OT: - Ines going to the tournament | The Boneyard

OT: Ines going to the tournament

Yes! I just watched the game. In UConn fashion, Ines stole the ball away from the Oregon St. player.

Then, what the heck is that referee doing? Gonzaga just dribbling out the clock, not looking to score, uncontested by OSU just conceding the loss and the referee calls a travel?

Inês stats. She's kind of up and down, but had a few good scoring games. Averaging about six points a game.

Glad this was posted. Ines a starter all year. Today 31 min 12 pts 3 reb 3 stl in championship game!

I always think about what an amazing college experience she has had. Rescued by Geno from jr college, because we ran out of players. 🥰

Then 2 years with Paige & crew going to a final four at UConn, followed by 2 years at another shrine of basketball in Gonzaga. Most likely even a Catholic to soak up the Jesuit education. (Paige by the way in another of her many classy moves has even visited Ines at Gonzaga)

Both years at Gonzaga she was a big contributor and their league was exciting and competitive. This year Gonzaga, Oregon St and Loyola Marymount all could have earned the NCAA bid...but Gonzaga pulled it out.

It's really a great story for a great kid from the Azores...maybe I'll seek out the movie rights. 'Always a Husky'.😀

So happy for Ines. I'm not sure if she started all season - based on the stats vs. Oregon State, it looks like she may be a shooting guard.

All the former huskies are in the tournament. Q, Saylor, Mir, and now Ines.
That's great. I didn't realize that was the case. I haven't made a point of following UConn transfers, but I assume they are playing more, and hope they are happy with their decisions. They gain in some areas, but miss out on so much. Very tough calculation.
I always think about Kaitlyn Chen and the things she has experienced while at UConn and beyond. Had she stayed at Princeton or did her final year closer to home at any school on the west coast, what a life altering decision.
She made the best decision in the history of portal decisions.

Tangential: The Zag coach has/had some serious health issues. Anyone know how she's doing?

I haven't seen any mentions of her health on a Zags message board, I think no news is good news in this case.
