Just reading and hearing the news from the FBI.. incredible that D1 coaches let these kids on teams with absolutely no experience in the sport !

Great, so the jig is up on fake athletic accomplishments and donations. How am I supposed to my kids in now? What else can be faked....hmmmm.

Not sure that's what happened.

As I understand the scam, parents would pay a substantial amount of money to a "consultant" who would assure them their kid would get into the college of their choice.

Then, the "consultant" would bribe a coach to help with the admissions process. The Yale women's soccer coach, for example, was paid to speak with admissions department staff and imply the students would be members of the team and thus more complete students than those without such an extracurricular activity.

Nobody from admissions would likely check to see if the student was ever on the team or ever played and everybody wins except those students denied admission because a slot had been fraudulently filled.

So wait a minute. The stupid admissions office didn’t do due diligence on the football claim?
