Aren't they special!
Actually if it were up to me I'd just put the NIT out of its misery. It is long past its glory days when winning it was considered a greater accomplishment than winning the NCAA tournament. With the expansion of the NCAA to 64 and now 68 it is really a meaningless event.

As the article says, they've hosted NIT games before.

Then they had to go on the road, where they lost.

So, yeah, cool move.

The NIT has served uconn well in the past. Tourney is good for young teams a chance to grow and get some tournament experience. Some years I get it, it would be a letdown for some but more game time for others. Would have been good for us this year

For smaller schools in one-bid leagues the NIT is a pretty good accomplishment.

Then make it a midmajor tournament. It is far past its prime and almost as bad to get an NIT Bid as no bid. I don't get the value of playing a game you don't even want to be in which is why many name teams lose early.

When the NCAA tourney becomes the P5 65 in a couple years it will be a midmajor tournament

The NIT is like 80% of college football bowl games. Meaningless

I wonder if they asked their fans (i.e. students) before making that decision?

Indiana out here trying to prove how hard they are by side-stepping the NIT, lol. You all aren't too good for anything, just be happy that there are people still willing to pay to see you play and take your medicine.

Indiana just didn't want to pay to open up the building.

They haven't won dick in basketball in a million years and just because you can fill it with hayseeds for every game doesn't mean it's a church, it just means there's nothing else to do in Bloomington.
