Our northeastern non-football or college athletics perception is our doomsday.

We know FSU, Miami are solid "no," which means we need unanimous "yes" from GT, Va Tech, NCST and Clemson, which seems impossible.

Only hope is all hell breaks loose and ACC implodes.

As I said, the only automatic no is Miami, thanks to their president. I'm not convinced that FSU and Clemson would vote against us if UL came along as well.

Our only hope at getting into a major conference (if you could call the ACC that) is if the ACC expands past 14. That would require ESPN schilling out $$$ to make it happen. If ESPN doesn't do that, they don't need to exist in the state of Connecticut.

I said a few times before that id Virginia is still in the ACC, Louisville will be too far down the list academically to be considered.

Some here are worried about Miami & FSU not budging. Does anyone believe that Wake, Duke & UVA would cave in on one of the major tenets of the conference they began (academics) because they believe Miami & FSU won't blink?

Louisville is not getting Miami, Duke, UVA, or Wake. If they get BC it's an "anti-UConn" vote.

Swofford is going to make them pick one or the other.

Also, the ACC probably views BCU as a huge failure and that isn't helping us either.

Why wouldn't Louisville get Miami?

They will absolutely get Miami. I can also see them getting Wake.

Virginia Tech is a major issue for them. They are not voting UL in. Duke and UVA are probably the other "no" votes.

There is no solid "no" in any of this. Based on husky91's logic, how is UL going to get more than 5 votes? Who else is out there that meets ACC criteria? The process is give and take and compromise, not acting like a d**k (well, other than Miami). B1G might be doing something, too. Who knows--take a Xanax and wait for the ACC president's meeting (that's presidents, not fans, not AD's, not the media) and see what happens. We'll be fine.

I'm actually suprised they could get BCU and UNC too.

Because these are college presidents that are voting, not football coaches and certainly not college football nut cases that hangout on Internet message boards all day.

They are consumed by Academic matters 95% of the time and Athletic matters on occasion. When they vote, obviously an area where they focus 95% of their time - Academics, is going to have significant relevance.

We don't know FSU and Miami are solid "no" or that Duke and UVA are "yes" votes. Frankly we don't know anything about what's going on inside the ACC and neither does Mark Blaudschun. There's a reason he's running a personal blog these days. What we do know is what Aresco said (or did not say) at todays press conference and Delany at last weeks press conference. Based on that I would be a little more positive than negative after today.

We know FSU and Miami are firm no, so start from that to build your case.

You need to do some research. As long as Charlie Strong's staff is at Louisville, there is no way that Miami is going to "absolutely" vote for them.

I hate throwing stones in the incredibly dirty world of college athletics, but Louisville has one of the dirtiest staffs in college football. Clint Hurtt is the guy that did A LOT of negative damage when he coached at Miami, and he's the guy Shapiro got almost everything from when he talked to the yahoo reporter.

Not to mention, Strong has been stealing a few guys from right in Miami's backyard, like Bridgewater, who was a UM commit.

The fans and administration at Miami really dislike Louisville. As long as Hurtt and Strong are there Miami will block Louisville.

Shalala is voting though, and she's still upset about the lawsuit. As for Louisville's "dirty" staff? Hurtt is the only shady guy there, as Strong has never been implicated in any wrongdoing. Also, UL isn't exactly tyearing the recruiting world on fire this year. We are arguably outrecruiting them.

Based on your logic, and the previous poster regarding VTech, Miami and VTech would be no votes for Louisville....meaning ....it is likely that two of these three schools - duke, UVA, and wake - are voting in Villes favor

No - Miami, FSU, Clem
Yes - Duke, UNC, VT, UVA, Wake, GT, NCST, BC
Eventual Yes - Cuse, Pitt

10/13 = 76.9% Time would be on our side.

Which is why this is nonsense. The ACC needs to add more than 1 school and Espn is likely in favor of them adding adding UConn, UL and Cincy. This is a false alarm.

Have to hope that Swofford will say "Look, we're going to add UConn either now or in a year." Maybe there's some politicking he can do for a yes vote.

That kind of defeats your previous points. If it's the presidents voting, why would FSU and Clemson vote against UConn when it's only the fan bases who are against UConn and they themselves don't have any animosity?

Louisville signed four 4 stars in the Miami-Dade area in just 2011. That doesn't strike you as odd? Especially when they were coming off a 7-6 season?

If it's one or the other, Miami may vote for Louisville, but they're not going to vote for them on their own.

Then why would FSU vote no unless athletics and fball weren't factors?

Or Clemson? Or GT?

That's not the point. I'm saying that the idea that Shalala has a completely different opinion than the rest of the people at her school about a certain program is a little far fetched.
