In case you missed this statement by Lindsay Gottlieb

Lindsay was an attendee and counselor at Geno's summer camps many moons ago. They have known each other a long time. Not quite UConn caliber, Lindsay played college hoops at Brown. It all worked out.:)

When Lindsay was a coach at Cal, she held a womens conference in conjunction with a game and one of the years she reached out to Geno to see if he would be the opponent and he gladly accepted and did an question and answer question with her on the stage the day before the game. She has always spoken well of and about Geno and he has always liked and respected her. She seems very likeable and has been great at recruiting and selling her program. I just question her actual x's and o's skills as her teams seem never make adjustments well and she doesn't lead the huddles in the game strategies.

SoCal did a great job in upping their commitment to WCBB and their fan base and attendance have grown immensely. As long as she keeps losing to Geno, I will gladly support her...

Yep! I agree with your analysis she is a leader not only for the team but for the women's game. It also exemplifies what happens to a program when you bring in both leader and an excellent coach. I've always been befuddled by negativity some display toward her. She served at various levels throughout the game and her record throughout her career particularly at SoCal reflects her positive impact on the game.

Having endured the opposite for 3 years I can tell you how much I appreciate what she's doing, how important it is, and how challenging it is witness the recent outflux. With that said I'm confident that she will continue the trajectory of her program and more importantly continue to have a positive impact on our game.

For some reason, I can’t stop thinking that Geno would like Lindsay to take the UConn program when he eventually retires. I have nothing to back it up, just something that has my spider senses clicking.

It isn't just her. The school made a serious commitment to her to invest heavily in the WBB program with upgrades to facilities and staffing. It definitely takes a leader to generate the buzz, but a leader can only do so much. That is a problem with a lot of the HC jobs out there - the schools is willing to pay a decent wage, but hopes you'll be happy with whatever is happening over on that side of the building, because they are spending all their time focused on other more important things.

Geno was lucky in his timing in taking what was a bottom of the barrel job, with no facilities, no glamor. But WBB was on the cusp, and money was beginning to pour in from broadcasters, and CT fans were starved for a 'home' team. And the school was investing heavily in sports and some of that was trickling down to the women.

Keep thinking Dugway, just head in another direction. I think you are so wrong, I hope.
