In my opinion, ticket demand has been very good considering how poorly UCONN has played under PP and the woeful start to this season. Granted, UCONN has the best home slate ever, but I also think UCONN has improved their marketing efforts this year.

Now, imagine if UCONN had gone bowling last year and had beaten both Towson and Maryland. I really think we would have sold out the season with the possible exception of Towson. The Rutgers and Louisville games would probably need the extra seats. Even now, the ticket availability for the remaining games is not that high, so we will have a respectable number of tickets sold for the rest of the season.

UCONN is one magical season (of course, with a new coach), from packing the Rent again. UCONN is still a growth program and I am confident we will turn this around.

I think you're right.

I was on the phone buying tickets for family for some upcoming games and there really isn't a heck of a lot left - we criticize our own fan base pretty often, but the tickets are actually moving.

Not bad given that the tickets ain't cheap and the team is being driven into a wall by Grandpa Goofus every weekend.

The fanbase has never been a problem, it's simply been a matter of leading them to the water, which was completely neglected for at least 8 years. I've been saying this for years. The product on the field needs to get improved though - dramatically, because our fan base, does not embrace losing with a smile.

Let's be honest, the marketing was effed up from the beginning, not just 8 years because of St. Lew. Perkins never, ever gave two craps about the "fanbase". He only cared about the corporate and high dollar donors. Period.

Think there's a lot of truth to this (see $75 UMass-UConn tickets year after Camby and Allen graduated, blue seat Rent pricing set by Lew, etc). But Lew was smoother in that he knew when to dial it back. JH was blissfully ignornant to the fact attendance was declining (hoops mainly); I think Lew would have been quicker to react. But maybe not.
