Between this new coaching staff, post season ban and conference realignment it's not easy being a die hard Husky fan. In fact, it's miserable.

But, I started on that campus watching Patrick Ewing and Chris Mullen regularly embarrassing Don Perno's crew (we called him Dumb Porno). Soccer games drew bigger crowds than football games back then. I would have guessed I would end up on the moon before I ever saw UCONN in the Fiesta Bowl. It's all been a blast. I remember that assh*le Leatner breaking my heart keeping that magical team out of a Final Four. I remember dancing around the house at 1:00 in the morning with my wife and kids when Coach K yelled "take him!" to Trajan Langdon and Ricky Moore shut him down. I remember tears running down my face when Edsall looked up to the sky at Notre Dame and said "that one's for you Jazz".

I spent four wonderful years in Storrs. Was the first member of my family to get a college degree because the good people of Connecticut made it an affordable place for a family of our means to send their kids. Met my lovely wife. It's a big part of who I am.

So I'm too old, too stupid and to blue and white to be anything other than a Husky.

Wonderful Holidays Boneyarders.

May not be the best of times right at this time, but its always Great being a Husky fan. Go Huskies.

Merry Christmas!!! And Happy Holidays to all yarders.

2012 was just a horrible year for the huskies. The hit list of all the things that went wrong is long and all Husky fans know what they are. I can't wait for the calendar year to end. 2013 just has to be better. I hope and pray good fortunes are headed our way. I for one believe good things are headed our way. There is to 2013!!!

BYU/Cincy makes more sense, unless we are playing a couple home football games per year in NYC.

UConn's proximity and draw in NYC will land them in a better conference at some point. B12 would be interesting: a great football conference and decent hoops too. Even if it doesn't happen, I'd just be happy to see UConn's name thrown around out there in relation to a conference other than the ACC.

I was really hoping I would have to hold up my promise to buy drinks for you and the others from the gameday chat room.

If that is the USS Connecticut HfD we are in big trouble, I only see two guns on that ship, we need more firepower. Ready to put 2012 to bed, let's go with Lucky 2013 for UConn Huskies fortunes in the future.

At least it looks a little more impressive than the USS Monitor that Warde is piloting. So at least we got that going for us... which is nice...

Man, I could've written that. Thanks for the perspective.

Great post.
The worst of times make the best of times all the sweeter (just ask Giants fans).

In my lifetime (I`m 49 and reasonably healthy) I:

  • Fully expect UConn to be playing in ~Big Boy~ conference
  • Fully expect we will kick the bajeezus out of a marquis program in a BCS (or whatever the future equivalent will be) bowl
  • Fully expect we will be a consistent top 25 football team
  • Fully expect we will regularly challenge for conference championships
  • Fully expect the stadium will be expanded to 50k+
  • Have a reasonable expectation that we will play for a national championship (this probability could increase alot with a well-developed playoff system)
  • Have an outside expectation that we will have a Heisman trophy winner
  • Have an outside expectation that a 60k+ stadium will be built on campus
I have casual interest in other sports (World Cup Soccer, Brazilian pro soccer), I really like UConn hoops and ND football (its a family thing) but for me the sun rises and sets on UConn football. To borrow a phrase from Queen:` Only (UConn) football gives us thrills. Rock and Roll just pays the bills. Only our team is the REAL team .`
GO DOGS!
