Not that I have any ill will towards UCLA but I hope they put UCLA through the same crap UConn went through last season. I don't want to think that the NCAA did this last season just because it was UConn.

The NCAA has yet to still punish UNC.

Sports Illustrated does a huge exposé on the problems with Howland at UCLA and Shabazz' sister received a huge contract from adidas, despite being ranked 386th as of April 2012, but it is only now that there is a concern about possible shenanigans.

UNC's academic issues go back to when Roy Williams first started. There have been problems for years. But why is it only being addressed now (and even now, it is unclear if the NCAA is actually conducting an investigation of the basketball program).

While I am not a conspiracy theorist, it does seem as if the NCAA unduly targeted UConn and Coach Calhoun for the past several years.

Now that's enough, CC74! I've accepted you as a friendly Dukie over on the women's board; playing nice over on the men's board just isn't fair! First Bilas and now you? Aarrgh! My head's going to explode!

Thanks, but when you threw in UNC's issues you dropped 'a little' in sincerity.

I brought up the UNC example as demonstrative evidence of the relatively slow path the NCAA has taken with respect to UNC basketball (and it has been a drawn out process for football as well), dragging things out for several years. By contrast, it seems as if the NCAA brought the hammer down on UConn pretty quickly.

I probably could have also referenced the rumors and innuendo surrounding Calipari and Kentucky...how they have persisted ever since he took over, but how there is no pending investigation or even an inquiry at this point.

But I would by lying if I did not glean some pleasure from the "goings on" with respect to UNC...

shocked I say to find this is going on in Westwood.

I'll look into it in a few weeks. My son lives a 5 minute walk from the campus and I'll be there from CT as soon as my soon to be born grandson pops out of the over sometime in next few weeks. FWIW, my daughter-in-law is getting her Phd. there in college administration and is no fan of the way athletic scholarships are handled. Also, until I told her, she had no idea who John Wooden was even though she passes the building named for him quite often. Kids, they have no sense of history.

Has the NCAA finished the Maggette inquiry yet?

Ryan Boatright was ranked 75th in the country by most sites and they tore apart his financials. Anyone with a brain knows it was because he was at UCONN anyone with a brain can also put together that if he got some benefits most of the top ten kids are getting something.
