I'm going to start merging Candace Parker threads

Any new threads begun as of now will be merged. That's because there's really nothing new, so let me recap:

1. Candace Parker wasn't named to the Olympic team
2. Tennessee fans are outraged; UConn fans are shocked/puzzled
3. Various people throughout women's basketball are tweeting their opinions; some fans care, some don't so there's been arguing over the importance of said tweets.
4. I, personally, didn't help matters by extending the discussion on Tina Thompson's vague tweet, for which I take full blame
5. We got a vague, unhelpful statement from the Selection Committee that may have made things worse
6. Some fans blame Geno for Parker's being left of the Olympic roster, some fans don't, and some think Geno had some influence on the committee and its choices but don't know exactly how much
7. Threads are starting to deteriorate into finger pointing, somewhat derogatory statements on players' abilities/characters, and borderline hostile behavior towards fans of the other side of the argument

That about sums it up, IMO. So, if more threads are started with random tweets, un-harmful speculation, or opinions, they'll be merged. Any facts from a reliable source that can be attributed to someone in the know, i.e. not "a knowledgeable source close to the situation" but a name, are another story and do deserve their own thread.

Thanks to everyone for their moderate tones to this point. I appreciate that we've been mostly civil in discussing what has become an incendiary topic.

Really thoughtful summary.

I like that in # 6 you did the blue and orange thing, sort of like the Blue-Grey thing in the Civil War (or as some in the South call it, "The War of Northern Aggression").....and that in #7 you put them both together, like trying to make peace in the land (good luck with that one!).
