Illinois Post Game Thread

Illinois would not go away, kudos to them. I knew, even when it was 57-43, that it was not going to be easy.

Had a rough 6 minutes or so in the first half, but a solid close out to the half. I don't think anyone was amazing, but everyone was good, and that was a team win.

Apparently the November game didn't matter even though tonight played out damn near the same, with UConn leading the majority of the game and by dbl digits multiple times. It was a hella risky gamble but apparently Dan Hurley didn't even look at Illinois as much of a threat with how long he rested the starters in the 2nd half.
They way the media disregarded that game was ridiculous.

Channeling Lou Gehrig's speech from 1941:

I want to thank God I am a UConn Huskies fan. Congratulations to all the players, well done. I just love this team. I am much more pleased for them than I am for me.

Hats off to Illinois on a great year. Coach Underwood is doing great things with that program and I am sure he will have more success in years to come.

The refs wanted to keep Illinois in it. They went on a 9 minute FG drought while going on a 10-0 run. Ridiculous.

Also, my only real complaint was Dan icing the starters in the 2nd half. He got to cute with the lead and went with the bench lineup for 2 minutes 2 long. The starters came in cold and the offense dried up. Lucky to hold on.

BRING ON MICHIGAN / ARIZONA

Tarris Reed is such a beast. I know we made a lot of 3s but every play I was screaming get the ball to Reed. Dude grabbed so many boards too.

They did what they had to do. Now it's just a waiting game.

I think we can beat either if we play out A game.

A lot of salty fan bases right now claiming we had an easy path even though we took down the number 1 overall seed.

We’ve beaten 3 top 10 KenPom teams with a chance for one more. I’m not a huge KenPom guy but anyone claiming an easy path is jealous and more importantly, wrong.

The key tonight everyone contributed it wasn’t a two headed monster but a total team effort Stew off the bench with a couple of threes. Ross with the great D all night, solo getting back to hitting his shots.

My only two complaints. We forgot Reed in the second half way too often. And our offense on the break a couple of times we had numbers and guys didn’t give it up for the easy two and instead took a challenged shot.

Interesting, cool thanks. I thought maybe everryone had 4 circles and on Monday will have 5, lol. But that makes more sense.

1 circle per win, for the "?" reaction....

He made some bonehead plays, but Solo's shots were huge, lucky rolls or not. I feel for him. That wrist injury clearly screwed his shot up. You can't really say he doesn't try hard. He wants so bad to contribute and I think the shooting percentage comes back up after a full recovery.
