If you could have a 1st team AA at any position, which would you choose?

Seriously Edney vs Clingan was man vs boy. We won because our other guys, especially Newton, were way better than there other guys.

On Khalid he brought something that UConn had been missing. Rip had the chance the year before and couldn’t deliver. Ray had a chance and couldn’t deliver. They weren’t both way better talents. But Khalid brought a cockiness or something
On top of everything else wrong with this post, El-Amin was of course on that team the year before

This post question isn't about the sum of all parts, which is obviously the most important, it's what position would you want AA level talent if you were going to start a roster. Once you start tapping into how peripheral pieces add/subtract, you are generally off the mark and can take this discussion into the far reaches of left field. That one roster spot is not going to carry an entire team, just give you the best chance to win. RIP, as good as he was, can't carry a whole roster. C'mon now.

I'm responding to a specific point the poster made, that Rip Hamilton couldn't get it done the year before the title, and needed El-Amin to get over the top. But of course El-Amin had been on that team, too.

No idea what you're talking about.

After reading most of the responses this question is similar to asking who is/was the greatest rock and roll band. For me it is a simple answer Led Zeppelin but I understand there will be different opinions/answers on that question.

So the question is decided by a vote May not be the right answer but it is the opinion of the majority.

Good debate.

How good would we have been with Edney, man just imagine

I'm having a bad flashback.

Edney's buzzer beater, along with Donyell's FT bricks, is right up there in the "why UConn didn't make a Final 4 until 1999" story.

It's "unanswerable" because a "First Team AA" can be Tristen Newton or Isiah Thomas (no offense to Newt) -- or Caleb Swanigan or Bill Walton.

Would you rather than Thomas or Swanigan? The PG. Would you rather have Walton or Newton? The C.

Actually in looking at this again you seem to be saying Rip Hamilton was something other than one of the handful of best players we ever had. Sorry if you don't remember him, but yes, he was that good, and on the short list for best Husky ever.

No one can carry a whole roster, which is why Kevin Durant didn't win an NCAA title

He's typing out every thought that pops into his head. He could've replied to your post giving all his thoughts on wicker furniture and it would've had the same amount of relevance as the reply he made to your post.

I was addressing the post he responded to, pretty much agreeing with what he was saying. I'll try to footnote my posts going forward so you jugheads can follow.

Wicker was so 1990, as is your sense of humor. You probably think it's in style, like your sense of humor.

Not posting is also a possibility.

2 titles and one in 2022, not sure he’s done quite yet.
And ten times as many flameouts with superior talent. One of the top 5 overrated coaches of this generation.

.-.
Considering that the rest of the team is a normal mix of non-AA but capable guys, no glaring weaknesses.

Where do you want your superstar and why?
Give me a 4 who scores, shoots, rebounds and defends at a high level. Make him 6`10 240 with a 7 foot wingspan.

Speaking of Singler, evidently he just got arrested for beating his girlfriend. I found that news a bit surpring.

That a Duke men's basketball player has a girlfriend.....

Hurley runs a motion offense, once you get past the half court the most important position is the 4 or 5 spot.

It's more about spacing and with the constant movement the big men stabilize the flow. The can set the high screen and read the defense to pass to cutters, shoot or hand off.

The big men are key.
