If you could form a new conference, who would you include?

Definitely Alabama!
Yeah, I definately missed Bama, and should have included them and dropped one of the 12 Programs I included, though the Crimson always seem to under-perform on the hard court.

It seems like a totally unrealistic fantasy for me to think that P5 teams would leave their nests of privilege to join anyone else. Also, being that this is the basketball forum,my selections are based upon making a basketball conference. I also feel that conferences should have a regional connection and a historical connection.

UConn
UMass
URI
Cincy
Fordham
Georgetown
Providence
Memphis
Seton Hall
St John's
St Joe's
Temple
Villanova

In basketball they would probably be one of the bottom teams
BUT
in football they could carry a conference!

If the Big East football teams had insisted on allowing Penn State to join, and then a whole bunch of other stuff had broken right, I would have liked a Big East of

North:
UConn
Syracuse
BC
Pitt
Rutgers
Notre Dame
Cincy
Penn State

South:
Virginia Tech
Louisville
Memphis
Miami
USF
UCF
West Virginia
TCU

We'd have a football title game, and for basketball, an 18-game schedule. Everybody once, plus a second game against two teams in your division and one team in the other, rotating.

why would we invite Syracuse? They don't bring anything to the table other than T-Shirts and underperforming tournament performances.

I saw a sign at Yankee Stadium that said they were New York's College Team. It's got to be true because it was printed, right?

Realistic -
East: UCONN, Cinci, ECU, UCF, USF, Memphis, Navy, Temple
West: Houston, SMU, BYU, Boise, SDSU, UNLV, Fresno St, Colorado St

Dream -
UCONN, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan St, Rutgers, Kentucky, UNC, Notre Dame
Florida, Florida St, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Kansas, Alabama, Duke, Texas, Oklahoma

.-.
UConn
dook
georgia tech
butler
kentucky
ohio state
florida
gonzaga
alabama
arizona
msu

I've always hated mega-conferences: 8 teams.
Play everyone Home/away. 14 league games. Leaves lots of flexibility on OOC
UCONN
Kansas
Indiana
North Carolina
Florida
Ohio State
Michigan State
Snookie (because our walk-ons need some PT)

I would've said Kentucky. But they'll probably be on probation soon!

OOC -
@St.John's (MSG would be like a home game)
Duke- in Brooklyn (K plays in NYC every year)
a 3-game tournament (Maui, Alaska, PR, etc)
Notre Dame - on NBC
Jim Calhoun Tournament - at Gampel (4 teams)
Need more home games for revenue:
6 other D1 instate schools
5 other Yankee conference brothers
That's 32

Combine old Eastern Football with UConn and a few others to make a 12 team league

UConn
Boston College
Syracuse
Penn State
Pitt
West Virginia

Temple
Rutgers
Maryland
Virginia Tech
Louisville
East Carolina/Cincinnati

Divide it that way and you'd be able to keep intact much of the major rivalries in the North division while allowing nice cross over rivalries like UConn-Rutgers, WVU-Virginia Tech, Maryland-Penn State

UConn
Rutgers
Penn St.
West Virginia
UNC
LSU
Alabama
Ole Miss
Michigan
Michigan State
Oklahoma
Texas
