Strictly speaking, a bellwether is the leading sheep of a flock with a bell around its neck. But the common use of the term is as an indicator of what's to come. It is very possible that if either team has a resounding victory tonight, that could generate optimism. The opposite effect would occur for a thrashing defeat. A close competitive contest would hardly be perceived as a bellwether.;)

Ozimoto I agree. In reality neither team is going to win or lose a NC tonight. I would consider it a win if we improve our passing, ball handing, defense, rebounding and eliminating our senseless fouls away from the basket. This game will only show both coaching staffs what they need to work on in practice. But I believe the odds makers may have taken a short trip to Colorado before they posted their line. It is my belief that on a daily basis it will really be import for our starting five to remain on the floor and get some really good minutes from Bent, Butler, Dangerfield and Irwin for us to remain competitive with the high flyers this year. But, that's why we play the games.

Yes Vegas line has Uconn favored by 13.5
Yeah, I just don't see that happening, but I would be happy to wrong.

Geno is smart enough to know that you neutralize their height by getting them into foul trouble so they will take it to the paint a lot. So when uconn wins where will they sit in the rankings?

I think the odds makers are proving their ignorance of WCBB.
The line is what they think will give them the same amount bet on both sides.... not necessarily what they really think the outcome will be. They believe people will lay 13.5 UCONN. I would take Baylor and the points any day. The line I saw had UCONN -6.5.... which I think is still high. My line is Pick -1.20. But that is just for fun.

I believe that should be in the singular, or the genders reversed.

[In before @Kibitzer]
No, the phrase refers to the plural things, not the singular thing, if you know what I mean! :)

Screams, "sighs", swearing and despondency across the nation. If you UConn wins.

There was only a few of us that believed that UCONN could beat the TREES! 72 - 61 UCONN!
The G's for Baylor scored 23/11/9!
the TREES scored 0/6/0/9/3!

UCONN had Gabby 14 pts./3 assts./2 blks/2 stls
Collier 10 pts./11 reb
KLS 16pts./
Crystal Dangerfield 19pts. 5 assts./2 stls
Kia 8pts./
Butler 3pts./6 reb/2 blks
Chong 2pts./
Great win for the Huskies!

I had no idea that UCONN was such a prohibitive favorite. That seems like a high number and maybe it is based on historical data using home games played over the past X number of years.
