This whole mess is partly their fault, though they were just protecting their interests. A league with KU and KSU will be just as good bball-wise though it will be weird to say the least geography-wise. B12 name could be kept, or something else entirely. Either way it might be able to keep a BCS spot if Boise and TCU are invited. Also someone must lose the basketball games as between UConn, UL, Cinci, KU, KSU and Baylor the basketball league will be stacked.

If they expand to 12 and add Georgetown, St John's Villanova and Notre Dame in basketball wouldn't that stem the stench of failure?

Do you really think the BE would grow to 16 teams in football?

If nothing else the NYT demographic chart showed one thing: there's no one outside of UCF or BYU or Boise that is worth talking to in the rest of college football. Put the 4 Big-12 losers and the 6 BE losers and TCU and Boise toegether and maybe think about ditching Baylor for UCF and call it a done deal. There's nothing else out there that counts 500,000 fans.

Whatever, I would be fine with 12, 7 from BE (with TCU and BYU if WVU is out) and 5 from the former B12. I think BYU would be open to joining if we were able to hold onto the BCS slot.
