Who produces HuskyVision and is the peripheral stuff always this bad? First time subscriber last night and was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED that the stream actually streamed. Not so pleasing: (1) the commercials(?) during foul shooting and time outs and whenever that consist of a single frame AD for a grocery store or insurance company; (2) the unexplained 5-10-15 minute lead in of essentially blank viewing. Went back today to look for a specific thing in the game. Had to endure a huge lead in of mostly freeze framed nothing in which audio disclosed some bizarre phone number snafu among production crew - 2 interesting dialogues. And, you cannot jump ahead. Try and it returns to ground zero. A few little things could so improve the experience. Is this a student production? I'd think if it was they would do better. This looks like the work of my local TV news broadcast!

My complaint was that over half the game was shown from behind a basket at ground level. I actually commented on JA's blog that if the ground level behind the basket was such a great viewing angle they should put the media table there. LOL It seems as though the producer is more interested in artistic expression than the best viewing. I know we only get the jumbo-tron picture and the ads are paid for, but at least let the people who pay to watch it actually get to watch the game.

I, too, signed up last night. Based on what I saw --and I felt all the same frustrations -- this is the arena video. It is what gets shown on the Jumbotron and on screens around the arena. Hence all the focus on fans mugging in the stands and on the fans who won the seat upgrade. Think of it as house video plus WTIC-AM commentary. That also would explain why they put static slides up when free throws are bring shot. I am sure the team does not want distracting video showing while players are trying to focus, so they put up slides mentioning the names of the arena sponsors.

I don't know the above to be true, but it is the only thing that makes sense, given the way the shots were done.

Yup, that behind the rim stuff was different to say the least. But why oh why show commercials during foul shooting and televise them tube shooting T shirts to the crowd?? Lots of stuff like that which could easily be fixed. Friend of mine I was complaining to said it sounded like the production unit of his old East German TV Broadcaster had the helm at HuskyVision!

I agree. At first, I couldn't believe how sophomoric the production quality seemed (other than picture quality itself, of course). It was only after several repetitive ad panels, I realized that it must be only the scoreboard feed I'd earlier paid $4.99 just to see the exhibition games. But then, when at half-time there was video but no sound for the Geno interview, I again figured that it must be a student-run operation. This conclusion was later confirmed during the half-time break, when a Geno video promoting something or other had no sound either.

For me, #1 is the image quality, the "see-ability" of the action. I get fast internet service, but there was no way to send to my tv; in fact, "best" viewing was at a medium screen setting on my desktop. #2 was the ground level, behind the basket perspective. I've sat behind the basket at Gampel, and it's not bad at all, but that allows a full view of the action, sideline to sideline. As someone mentioned, it is amateur night, but does it have to be THAT bad?
Well . . . sigh . . . it is for just two exhibition games that have never (afaik) been televised before. Makes me appreciate the picture quality of the SNY broadcasts.

I was able to see something last night. Blurry at times, it was still enough for me to enjoy. Heck, I watched it twice.
