At least he was in our first 4 games. His tuck and runs for 5 to 8 yards during the first 4 games were excellent, and helped open up the pass game by freezing LBs and Safeties. Against BYU all he did was drop back and play pro style. That's not going to work because he's basically an adequate thrower. Now when you allow him to run for 5-10 yards, a skill in his wheelhouse, then his effectiveness increases significantly.

BS can take us to a bowl game, but please use his dual threat skills to make the passing game effective. If all he's doing is dropping back to pass its going to be a long season.

I said it in another thread. More roll outs and zone read options.

Having BS under center in a pro style offense isn't playing to his strengths.

He is a huge improvement so far over anyone we have had in a while, but he really needs to figure out how to continue to look down field while scrambling. It's like as soon as the pocket breaks on a drop back he's 100% committed to running and everyone in the stadium and on TV knows it. Very frustrating to watch. The announcers also pointed out that he seems to make a pre-snap decision on who to throw to and doesn't even glance at wide open receivers.

the great dual threats are able to continue to look downfield and make throws after the play breaks down. Hopefully BS can figure this out, he's only a few games into his QB career.

He's been effective where? Against a FCS team and a bad Army team? He's a terrible passer. No accuracy, average arm strength at best. He was awful against Navy, Mizzou and especially last night.

I get he's the best we have right now, but I'm sure hopeful this Southington kid can come in and play immediately. Tired of these lousy transfer QBs. There's a reason they couldn't play at the other places.

And so it begins...by this time next year Rose will be better than Brady. Here's the thing. The line might as well have stayed in Storrs. They can't block the little sisters of the poor. Shirreffs is getting happy feet now just like every quarterback we've had in the past 4 years.

He's not being used to his strengths for sure. Needs to run rollouts and zone reads and shift to the shotgun more often. I believe we do have that future QB on the roster (Tyler Davis) but rushing anyone out there with this blocking would be a big mistake. This year our 1-2-3 is pretty set and the kids need to be saved for next year at least.

With the beating Bryant just took I hope Boyle and Anderson are focused on the possibility of getting some snaps. We have to do a better job blocking and play calling.
