I think it is a nice surprise to see Ross ...

People on this board have gotten so goshdarn strange over Ross to the point they think there's a conspiracy against him. He arm bars a dribbler in the neck and the refs are out to get him.
What would a BY thread be without the addition of a SJ over-extrapolation or hyperbolic statement? Now we can say it's complete!

No one in this thread said said "the refs were out to get Ross". Many have said he played lousy in the 2nd half (up for debate as to whether it was "lousy", but clearly it was not great)...and/or that he committed "stupid fouls".

If you review the game tape (see GIFs, frame-by-frames in this thread), it turns out 3 of his 2nd-half fouls were 50/50 foul calls that got called. We've all seen games where those called fouls were not called fouls (either on UConn or our Comp) based on the whims of the refs on that particular evening.

That's all that's going on in this thread from my end.

You have one person to thank as it comes to the Ross hypersensitivity.

Is that an early-2000's Dave Grohl?

No they weren't, that's the point and your Zapruder breakdown doesn't change that.

LOL. Here you go with more SJ absolute-isms.

Those fouls that were called on Ross that we're discussing/debating absolutely do not get called 100% of the time in every game. And you know it. Stop being disingenuous. If they did, every single player in every single NCAA basketball game would foul out before the final horn blew.

Arm bar to a guy's neck is a 50/50 call. Ok, bud

.-.
I watched Furphy in that international tournament. He missed many, many shots in the lane. Yes, it was a small, couple of games, sample size. He is a volume scorer. He will have to be much more efficient to get playing time with Hurley.
Well, he’s a freshman and let’s give him some time

That's an obvious foul that almost certainly doesn't get called if he doesn't reach across his body and put his right arm into the Columbia player's chest. What are we even doing with this?

People want to be right about Ross so bad they're arguing why 50/50 calls should've been made on a guy we root for.

I want him to get going offensively just for the pure entertainment of seeing the board react to him earning a full time starting role.

And you wonder why people argue with you. There is 0 chance Jayden Ross is becoming a full time starter and it has nothing to do with Ross being good or bad. He is not passing Braylon Mullins as the starter

Well this is an improvement from you thinking there was a slim chance Ross would get playing time over Furphy.

I never said that, I said neither one would get playing time and it would be an 8 man rotation. And I have already said I was wrong and looks like it may be a 9 man rotation when Mullins is back.

Unlike you I don't ask a moderator to delete my entire post history when I have a wrong take, I just admit I was wrong

Please. What you see is what you get. Ross(and Stewart) are good guys on a good team in a great program. Continued development will enable them to make significant contributions to Big East and NCAA tournament runs. Does anybody see a draft choice in either of those 2?
100%. Both could become very valuable role players on a very very good team.

great interview tonight on 97.9 with Ross. Really enjoyed listening to him talk about playing with his brother, how they bounced back from the opening game and just UConn b-ball. Anyone else catch it?

It sounds like you may have seen Furphy's later games. He was great in the first game and then seemed to gradually tail off. Some people felt he got worn down carrying the team. Or, maybe the opponents found flaws in his game as they saw more of him.
