Oh get over yourself (the writer not you). Once you win a championship the life and death bs and comparing real life events (Hindenburg, Berlin Wall, 1929 Stock market) to a stupid baseball team playing long boring games not making it to a round robin playoff series in which they were going to get their a$$es handed to them anyway is just ridiculous.
Sure the story in Boston should be on what went wrong, but the national story shouldn't be the Sox collapse, it should be about the Rays seizing the moment. Hopefully that happens starting tonight. Rays deserve to be where they are and so do the Sox. Neither means much outside the baseball field and to pretend otherwise is hyperbole. Only plausible explanation for all of that crap is maybe they announced open auditions for the CHB's piss in the cheerios role.
