MS Word works fine, but it doesn't back up to my iCloud account. I don't need a full featured app. Just basic word processing.

Pages is Apples official word processing app. I believe it comes free now with iPad purchases, if not it's $10.

DS is right - just use Pages.

It's free and will basically do what you're asking automatically.

Just download. Perfect. Thank.

Why not just use dropbox app for the word docs?

My memory is slowly failing, and I need to start streamlining what I do. At one point I used google docs, iCloud, Dropbox, etc., on a pc, iMac, and iPad. I can't keep track of what I've saved where and in what format.

I've decided to stick with iOS and iCloud for everything. I may be limited, but at least I'll know where everything is, and that it'll be accessible with my iOS devices.

.-.
Alternatively you could try using Microsoft OneNote software. Great for notes and word processing, syncs automatically with Microsoft's version of iCloud called OneDrive which I believe is available for Windows 10 AND OSX as well as having an iOS/iPad app for OneNote as well.

Way I see it if you use OneNotes all your text will be synced to MS's cloud and can be accessed on a PC, Mac, and iPad at the same time.
