I'm sure I'm in the minority but I miss the pre game show and the post game show. No coaches interviews or analysis after the game. Since we have Spectrum cable getting SNY was not an issue and I could DVR the games and shows if I couldn't watch from the start. And while our cable plan carries, FS1, ESPN2 et all it's just not the same. Yesterday since it was a blow out they talked more about other teams and games. With no previous UConn players on the broadcast there is no UConn antidotes to pass the time in what are going to be a lot of blow outs this year.

I've caught a couple of pre-game shows on the WWAX, and there's just no comparison. Those guys just can't compete with the insight that Kara Wolters brought (about the sport and about the team) and the professionalism of Gary Apple. The quality gap isn't quite as big on the play by play, but as you said the color commentary is not exactly Husky Blue. I hate having to hunt down the games across multiple different channels, but at least I get to see them.

I agree with the OP but we have to remember that these are nationally broadcasted games representing the Big East, not UConn. I like that the commentary does include a lot of information about UConn but yesterday's commentary should have also hyped Xavier...they're in the Big East too.

Unfortunately, that's the downside of a national broadcasting contract, particularly when UConn is by far the leading school in the Big East for WBB. We as long-time fans have lost more detailed focus, stories and analysis that befits the #1 team in the country and reigning national champs, something that SNY's team spoiled us with over the years. IMO until other BE teams step up to get nationally ranked (not even one other BE team got a vote in this week's rankings), the BE should insist that Fox/NBC/TNT/WWAX tout UConn and prep its game coverage with something at least close to what we had with Kara/Gary/Megan/Allen. Because UConn is, well, UConn, there are many, many fans around the country that WANT to know the things that the SNY team used to tell us about the team so it would be a win for the league and the sport for our new broadcasting partners to be better prepared. And the SNY team would also keep us up to speed on UConn's BE opponents too.

I also miss the team at SNY, but I was thrilled to see Chelsea Sherrod doing sideline reporting at the Thanksgiving tournament in Las Vegas involving Texas, South Carolina, UCLA, and Duke. I know, as a Mets fan, that she is still working with SNY, but it was great to see her get exposure on a national broadcast. (I believe that the Las Vegas tournament was on TNT or one of its affiliates.) I think she's a real talent, and I hope she continues to find opportunities in women's basketball.

You are not in the minority on this topic. SNY was a very good network for Uconn games.
The pre and post games were great.

I liked Kara Walters too.

Adjust the rabbit ears so you can watch the game with the sound turned off while listening to Varsity Network through your hearing aids synced to the infernal cellular phone.

I wrote basically the same thing about 3 weeks ago!
It's great for the Big East getting more $ but it really sucks for UConn fans!
SNY was so professional in everything they did for UConn!
Except actually making all their games available to everyone.

But they did their best to make the games available to (almost) everyone. They didn't have to join together with Fox Sports and have their games streamed on the  free Fox Sports app and over the internet. And the only requirement was that your tv provider carries your local Fox station and FS1, FS2(?) which I would hope was applicable to almost every cable, satellite and streaming service.
But this has been discussed in how many other threads?

That's why I listen to the radio broadcast. Bob and Debbie are great.
I've done the same but run into a radio or tv audio delay from the action being shown on the tv which is a bit disconcerting. There's apparently a way to sync the radio audio with the tv through a DVR box or an app as a buffer but I am not technically qualified to try it for fear of causing a household catastrophe!

I haven't been a fan since it was announced. I have most of the channels but it is a pain in the butt to find the games. Before all I had to do was tune into SNY. I know, first world problems!

No not really. It wasn't always there. Or sometimes only part of the game. And it couldn't be recorded. And wasn't shown again, couldn't get it later if missed. And the pre and post show was never available.

Luckily some people (like MJ) helped out by putting games on YouTube.....at least for a couple years. But I think SNY got wind of that and shut that down. (another reason to not like them). So they didn't do their best, in fact they aggressively tried to screw people over.

For some of us NOT having SNY is SOOOOOO much better.

I don't know what to tell you. I never had any real issues watching the games via the Fox Sports App. Once in a while I would get kicked out of the app but would never have any problem getting right back in. I don't believe I ever missed a game because it wasn't listed on the app. If it happened, it was only once. I also made a point to delete and then add the Fox Sports App between games, just because.
You are right that I couldn't record them but they were available on demand in the Fox Sports App afterwards. I really never watched the pre or post game shows when I had SNY via DirecTV, so...
And networks have copyright rules in order to protect themselves, not to screw people over. They are selling the products that they have to buy or produce.
As far as comparing SNY to the current situation, there really isn't any difference to me...I stream the games via Hulu Live or Peacock instead of the Fox Sports App. And there are so many ways to find the schedule and broadcast info, no one should miss a game.
