I Know the AP Poll Doesn’t Matter, But…..

Not that it means anything , but here's the NET after last week:

UConn wasn't all that competitive in any of the three losses they had early in the season so I think the voters will move on them more patiently than usual, at least until they play ND. The Big East is really not very good after UConn and the blowout wins don't help UConn as much as you would think.

UConn right now is a solid top 5-6 team and can beat any team they match up with. As much as they need Ice to step up she just isn't quite there yet and they need at least 7or 8 players to ensure the rotation gets all of them a break now and then. They have been playing outstanding against the teams on the schedule but their NCAA Seed will come down to two games ND and SC.
Have to disagree about strength of the Big East after UConn. After watching several Big 10 games, including the recent Iowa/Ohio State game, I really believe the top 5 or maybe 6 would be at least competitive with the top 5 or 6 Big 10 teams. Not much defense in that Iowa/OHio game. The bottom 1/2 of the Big East not competitive, agreed.

No sympathy from this board regarding “only two losses, both when River Baldwin was out”!
Yeah not looking for sympathy. Just putting into context the situation if we are trying to come up with rankings. UConn has had more than its share of injuries! State has had Rivers and River both miss a handful of games but now are back and relatively healthy.

However I do believe UConn was at full strength when they came to Raleigh if we want to take that into account when making our personal rankings.

Sadly, UConn wasn't at full strength any game this season with Ayanna and Jana never even suiting up.

Why, how generous and helpful of you to point that out.

Can we also take into account the fact that NC State historically tends to choke in the games that matter most?

UConn lost a 6-5 center and 6-2 big before the season

lol sorry I couldn’t resist!

And I wasn’t aware of the other previous injuries. Just having fun!

Look I’m a NC State fan, in general there isn’t much to poke our chest out about, so I have to shoot when I have a shot!

I’m certainly not here to compare programs, UConn is THE program all women’s basketball programs strive to be. But at the same time I’m pretty proud of how the lady Pack have preformed this season, including that particular day.

Ultimately I was originally trying to add context to the original posters top 10 that had State falling all the way out. As a State fan you get used to being overlooked, I was just pointing out perhaps the Pack deserves a top 10 slot too!

Nah the Big East is pretty weak if we're being honest.

UConn might be the hardest team to rank. Of the 3 losses, none of them routs, Azzi and Caroline only played vs. NC State. Caroline was not up to snuff. Not saying UConn would necessarily beat either UCLA or a healthy Texas, but we played both dependent on freshmen and Paige was still feeling her way back. Of course we no longer have Aubrey but Ice is progressing. We will find out more tonight and vs. ND. Marquette and Creighton aren’t horrible, but nowhere near what ND, Rutgers and L’Ville were in the old BE plus some decent BC and WV teams.

Can any other team lay claim to the accomplishment of never losing a single conference game over multiple seasons?
Connecticut's 145 consecutive regular season conference wins and 169 total (including tournaments) broke the old record of 124/143 held by Texas in the Southwest Conference between 1981 and 1990.

I can't even remember the last time Connecticut was at full strength.

I’m a big Wes Moore fan and consequently for N C State
They I think are well thought of by BYers Maybe not so much this season so far :)

Thanks for the kind words! Wes Moore is easily the most popular coach at NC State since the early 90’s and that’s regardless of sport. Been some slim picking around here! But he is an easy guy to root for, his demeanor and personality play well in Raleigh.

I was being honest. I’ve watched a lot of games. Top 5 or 6 would be very competitive in Big 10. UConn, Creighton and Marquette could all be in top 5 of Big 10 based on what I’ve seen, despite what the polls say.
