that andrew catalon was going to be a breath of fresh air . he was doing actual play-by-play, and it was quite enjoyable. but recently it seems like meghan has worn him down. while the game's going on last night he just had to throw in stats, etc constantly. and much of the action was missed. that, together with their habit of replays going right over actual on court action, has really been disappointing after a promising start. of course, meghan , as the analyst, hasn't said anything new in quite awhile. i really don't want to hear anymore about" kelly filling up the stat sheet", "my big girl will hurt you if you leave her open outside", " breanna just needs to work hard on other things besides scoring", " that's what drives geno crazy"( pan to geno with his head in his hands), etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum. for the first time this season, we went to mute last night.

Your post defined what I have been feeling. The past couple games I just felt like I was hearing Meghan's voice much more prevalently than I could ever remember this season, and the content of what I was hearing felt more distracting than informative. I had flashbacks of the parts of CPTV that I really did not care for. I would rather the broadcast be about the game with the annoucers effective, but from the perception of the viewers, in the background. Prior to the recent games, I felt like I was hearing informative commentary that was communicating insightful details that enhanced my enjoyment of the game. So BTB, I do agree with you and I hope SNY is monitoring this post and situation.

My wife made the observation the other day - the common denominator in the less stellar announcing is Meghan. Her "familiarity" causes her to ramble about anything/everything except what is taking place on the floor. And for those who claim "You are watching so just shut off the sound", my reply is that would be ok IF the camera caught EVERYTHING. When it's panned to showing Geno with his head in his hands, we have zero idea what is taking place on the floor, who checked in, who fouled, or even which team called the time-out/how many they each have left. Of course, with Meghan steering off course, we know none of those things either.
I've taken to having gametracker going so I have who/what/where info. (of course, the synching between gametracker and the video is way off)

To be honest...the commentators are nothing more than background noise to me. I focus on watching the game...chuckling now and then when the commentators just get it wrong and marveling at other times when they get it right. Otherwise, I could care less who does the commentating and most times I wish they would just shut-up and let me watch the game in peace.

I really like the way Kerith Burke presents herself. She is poised, professional and prepared. She asks straight questions, no cutesy stuff about her. I expected that from her since she is a regular sports news anchor for SNY. But she does a really good job for UConn games, IMO. I also think she is very good on the Geno Show. That is much improved!

Totally agree with all of you re: Meghan. All of her old, bad habits are back, as well as the honking laugh. I wish we heard more from Andrew, but Meghan is a mike hog for certain.

Also have been muting Kara. It is all about mugging for the camera and what an insider she is. And she gets very shrill sometimes. Poor Gary Appel. (At least I don't have to listen to her ads for her basketball clinics in her oversized garage anymore on TIC.)

Speaking of TIC, Bob and Debby doing a nice job as well.

Hope SNY looks at these posts and sees what the viewership thinks!

Ms.Burke doesn't have that comfy long-term relationship with Geno... so its all business

Geno looked out for her and Wolters... both would have been out of work due to the SNY switch

Don't know if you have any facts to back that up... but I actually thought they were brought over for the fan base. To be something familiar carrying over from CPTV. I'm guessing there would have been a bit of a reaction if both had disappeared.

Yes, I agree - - cheering and dancing in the street initially, followed by satisfied smiles from happy viewers during the broadcasts

Hey, this is what Homers do, they root for the home team and Meg does a good job........We are so lucky to see almost every game and who cares calls the game.........
