I dread another

We still have the portal drama for awhile, both how it pertains to us and our biggest competitors. Paige in the "W", and then in the summer trying to read between the comments on how our newcomers are doing, and the usual updates on our pursuit of the class of 2026 and beyond.

Yes it's slower but with the WNBA season starting when it does, and the NBA playoffs going well into the summer, and then their draft and free agency, basketball in general probably is closer to having year round interest than any other major team sport.

6 months without the women playing. I want 12 months of Husky Women's BB.
I can never get enough.
Someone start a rumor please. "Did you hear about the 7' Aussie Geno is bringin in."
There also remains the drama of; 1. Who will be next year’s “ Kaitlyn Chen?” In other words, does UConn tap into the transfer portal again….and at what position? 2. How does Caroline Ducharme prepare for next season? Same issue for Patterson. Will she actually be a factor in 2026? What does Jana do to hone her developing skills?

Old Husky, I agree with everything you say except I think the NFL garners more year-round interest than basketball.

Patience CT. Two things should calm you.

The portal is wide open and speculation on which players are interested in UConn and vice versa will be rampant.

Secondly, we can all watch Paige tear up the W this spring and summer. :)

Question; Yahoo Sports reported that Azzi will be back. Was that a mistake, or does she have another year of eligibility?

I am so hoping to see Patterson healthy and on the court all year.

There are alot of things going on behind the scenes in WCBB. One thing that is apparent you cant have one dominate player and expect everybody else to play second fiddle to her. Some teams will experience players entering the portal because they are good and want to be part of a T.E.A.M. and not play to make their star player the main attraction. Geno has gotten alot of top 10 players to buy into his system of sharing the ball and being part of the T.E.A.M.

There are kids overseas just like Blanca who would like to play for UConn. We will see if that becomes a reality.

We will be hearing about our injured players coming back and regaining their form and effectiveness.

There will be alot going on during the off season and much of it will surprise us.

I agree with everything that you said except for the NBA. I have a very hard time watching that anymore (except for a couple of teams). They don't even play by the basic rules of the game and to me that means they aren't even playing bball anymore. When they don't call double dribbles, travels, and other basic calls uniformly then they loose my interest.

Oh wait. I have seven months to regale y'all with some random data that I've been sitting on, as it wasn't the right time to bring it out during the season. Maybe. ;)

Plenty of rumors and fake news all over social media. Saw a post the other day that claimed all of the refs from the UConn/SCal game were suspended for bad officiating. One of the refs in that game was Maj Forsberg. Obviously not suspended because she refereed the Championship game.

I thought the officiating was pretty even in the tournament. Down low they called nothing except on Jana who needs to learn how to defend a little sneakier. The biggest difference to me was UConn always seemed to be getting good looks and they didn't give the other team anything easy. Unfortunately the officials always get the blame when in reality they are just not going to call every foul, ever.

There's at least a dozen UConn Alum in the WNBA. You can cheer for your favorites over the summer.
There will be a new UConn Alum this year too. Hang on, trying to think of her name.

Oh, Paige!
