When I buy an airline ticket I accept the eventuality of the TSA bs but. . .

I don't recall anywhere on the season's ticket application stating I would be subject to a pat down at the XL Center. Last night at the men's game it appeared to be stand operating procedure for everyone entering. If that woman feeling me up had lingered another second we would have had to get married.

Seriously now, does any one here really think that their 'professional' pat down is effective in any way? I could have smuggled in a bazooka but I'm pretty sure they would have 'caught' my camera.

The more we accept these intrusions the less we are deserving to live in a free society.

They've been doing that for several years now. I don't know if the "feel-up" procedure is different for entrance to the men's games than the women's (I might guess the answer is yes, for better or worse), but I've always assumed it's for finding smuggled-in drinks rather than any weapons. (But maybe that says more about me and my. . . interests.)

Pat downs may be a little unwanted , but better safe than sorry.

Interesting responses. Where is the line where those who don't mind being patted would think they've gone too far? What would offend the "better safe than sorry"?

Interesting question - I guess I am OK with restrictions/security measures for venues or locations I choose to visit or make use of. I feel the same way about video surveillance in public areas (lived in London for a year which is one of the most heavily CCTV covered cities in the world.) I do have problems with surveillance of my mail, email, phone, GPS, or other invasions of what I consider my private space.
But I do think anyone whose job involves pat downs should be specially trained and seriously monitored on the job. Never had a problem myself but have heard some horror stories.

With schools, malls, movie theaters, air ports, etc etc... getting shot up seemingly ever other day I would rather there be some kind of deterrence (pat down) at a public venue then not. I'm surprised someone from the New England area would be against these kind of measures after those nutcases bombed the Boston Marathon.

The pat downs are typically minimal. I agree with an earlier post that I think they are looking for contraband food and drink so as to keep the concessions afloat. You could have a pound of drugs on you and I'd bet they wouldn't notice. New York's stop and frisk it ain't.

I guess that would depend on who was doing the patting.

Mildly tongue in cheek. They are definitely looking for smuggled food. If think that's not the only thing they are searching for. But the pat downs that I've experienced would miss an awful lot.

That was Pat Paulsen's presidential campaign slogan. Unfortunately, he didn't win.
