(I realize this is old news), But it's honestly so frustrating that the big east won't even let us play in the BET. Screw Mike Aresco. Way to make it even more painful for the university and the fans. Would have been cool to watch us upset teams going for the at large bid

Ive been beating this horse myself. Why cave in to a group of teams that are out the door over the one team staying?
The only reason I can come up with is he is afraid the other teams would use a reversal as an excuse to leave early without exit fees or something to that effect. Other than that there can be no logical reason.

Im reacting to this the way i thought i would. Im more bummed now that its closer to tournament time then when it first became official they couldnt play in the post season. Just the thought of dealing with 5 days of the Big East Tournament without UConn is starting to wear on me as well as selection sunday knowing our name will not be called. I was just thinking earlier how great it would be if the Big East went back and changed their minds last minute to include us. One thing that gets me about this is, did they even hold a vote or did Aresco just make the decision himself??? I know this wont be too popular here but im going to quote Obama from the SOTU...UConn at least "deserves a vote"...

They voted. We tried to get a revote when C7 announced their intenntions so only UConn, USF, and Cinci would have votes. It was denied.

I assume it has something to do with the conference being afraid of us winning the BET and forfeiting the automatic bid.

Which is dumb. If they want the bid they should have to go through us, too!

Which would make sense if we were in the MAAC or something. The Big East will get more than its share of bids.

This makes the most sense as they would also be embarrassed if it happened creating more controversy which they want to avoid.

Whatever controversy it would have created it would have been trumped by this being the last season all the original teams get to play together. Most fans would have been equally divided over the sentimentality vs. the cr crud.

It was not Aresco but the university presidents. Cuse missed an NCAA season but got into the BE tournament so there was a precedent. Just a bunch of leaders (University Presidents) that chose to rationalize their decision. Believe me, if UConn had Seton Halls success in the BE the presidents would have voted differently. It was a jealousy and political vote.

Thats why I will always consider 2011-2012 as the last true Big East Tournament. Nobody has any right trying to claim this years tourny is the last one... UConn wont be there. That is a big piece missing.
