I am not going to watch tomorrow's game live.

There, I've said it.

I'm recording it. It is just too stressful to watch it live so I will wait until the morning to find out. I've done that before with high-stakes games and let me say it is a pleasure to watch an important game knowing that we're going to win. I did that with the South Carolina game and when I went to the Boneyard the next morning, the first words I read were "Well, I didn't see that coming!" I loved watching my replay. Besides, you can fast-forward through the commercials. And if we lose? I have no desire to watch our girls sobbing on the bench.

Anybody else do this?

For anything I can DVR, I start watching about half an hour after the start. That’s just to avoid commercials., but beyond that, I prefer watching live. Last week I had a commitment, so watched the OkSt game the next morning, knowing the result.

I’m not crazy about this game starting at 9:30, but know I won’t be able to sleep not knowing the result. So I’ll watch it in real time and curse myself on Saturday.

I'm the same way.. I won't watch the game till the end of the first quarter and end of third quarter.

I am good live until the 4th quarter and it gets tight. Then I turn off the sound. If that’s too stressful, I only look at the screen every few minutes. In extreme stress, I turn off the game and check the live score periodically. A big coward.

I was watching the USC game with my dad (I usually watch alone), and in the fourth quarter I said, “usually this is the time I have to turn off the game.” I made it through, but it was a challenge!

Cowards unite!

I commented somewhere on the Boneyard last week about my superstitious television watching habits for big games. Usually, I can’t stand watch at the beginning, but I will follow the scores online. If it looks like things are going well, I might put the game on, but the second something goes wrong, I immediately turn it off again. I agree with those who say that it is just too darn stressful.

I likely won't watch either not because I'm afraid but it's a Friday night and I'll be busy and not sitting in front of a TV.

My "cowardice" extends to turning off the sound. I sometimes
take a walk during the commercials. Besides that, I will be in for
the duration of his triple overtime masterpiece! Excellent game
Paige, Sarah, AZZI, Jana, Kaitlyn, KK, Ash, Aubrey, ICE, Carol and the
quality minutes from Allie, Q, and the bench support from Yanna
and Morgan. Note: this is called (by some): "lucid dreaming"! But why not!!!

I can understand fully. It can be nerve-wracking and a 9:00 PM game means you will not have a good night's sleep. I think that you are no less a fan for it.

No wose or coward here, UConn-aholic for multiple sports. But I do DVR the games to watch the end the next day should a few IPA's or glasses of wine have me sleeping before games end. I also do as some mentioned above DVR and start late to avoid the commercials.
I hope the team comes out strong and does not create a lot of stress for our elderly fan base. They do raise my blood pressure for sure. ;)

Watching UConn games can be stressful. When recording the game is possible I do that and start watching 40 minutes or so after the start time to avoid ads and halftime chatter. The down side to that is that commercials can be decompression time so if needed I'll skip fast forward. It isn't an issue often but If we are down so far in the 4th Q that winning isn't possible I'll turn the game off.

The stress factor in watching close UConn games happens only for UConn games. I'm a fan of other teams in other sports and while there is some tension in close games it's nothing remotely comparable to the stress of a close UConn game. And yes, I know it is only a game - doesn't help.

My brother-in-law played defensive end in high school and college. His high school won the Div 1 Wisconsin state championship his senior year.

My mother-in-law went to all his home games but according to family lore, she never actually watched him play because she was so afraid of watching him possibly get injured, she shut her eyes whenever he was on the field.

I’ve had my heart broken so many times over the years with all my teams that it doesn’t even bother me anymore. I like to watch live so I don’t have to avoid social media until I can watch a replay. They win or lose regardless of my viewership…

Guilty.

I DVR the game and go into a "cone of silence". Well after the expected end of the game, I hold my breath and sneak a look at UConn's record on ESPN. If the loss total has not gone up, I breathe a sigh of relief and watch the game, not knowing anything other than that they won.

I am fine going to games in person, season ticket holder at both locations, but watching live on TV, especially at this time of year, makes me cuckoo.

Mr. Wimpy, that's me!

Hey, I patented this years ago! You will be hearing from my lawyers. It has become a superstition with me which I invoke when the nerves are too much. But I do pick and choose. I watched USC so go figure.

I watch live. Very stressful, but too excited to not watch. I like to be able to follow stats online and read some of the chat comments (only some). I do have a martini (see my avatar) a little before the start of the game, wear my special game shirt…and do a lot of pacing - and yes, a lot of screaming too!!!

If I were to not watch, I like Husky 11’s approach of looking at UConn’s record after the game and then watching if we won.

GO HUSKIES !

I have watched every conference game live because I had no way to record the overwhelming majority of them and could never figure out how to do stuff (mainly ff and rewind) watching replays on the Fox Sports App.
For OOC games I will usually watch home games live and record the road games. I too try to avoid seeing the scores until the game is in the 4th quarter or over.
For the Dance, I watch the first 3 rounds live and usually record the remaining rounds.
If UConn lost any games I recorded, I will most likely delete the game and read the Postgame thread. This season I recorded the USC XL Center home game but did watch the recording.
When we win, I will watch the recorded game asap.
I did peak at this year's game at SoCar and it happened to be halftime. Yay. Once the game was over, I read the Postgame thread before watching my recording.
Now my reasoning for recording the games is because for the past few seasons I have been using a Continuous Glucose Monitor and have noticed that my Glucose levels skyrocketed while watching the games live. It takes a couple of hours to manage my Glucose levels after I stop watching. So....
I will record the Final Four game tomorrow and watch the replay either after the game is over or Saturday morning.

You’re not a coward. Over the last 25 years there are many losses I wished I hadn’t seen, but the joy I get from watching them play and play well far exceeds the disappointment when they don’t play well. I have to watch live.

You’re not alone my friend. The last game that started at 9:00 I couldn’t fall asleep until 12:30 and they won. Ugh!

Well, the game is at 4am my time, so like many other games, I'm just going to sleep through it and wake up to see the end. Or I might wake up early (ie - my body will wake up) and then I'll watch the 4th quarter live. I hope to sleep through it too - I agree, it's just stressful (and I'm shocked that considering everything I've gone through the last year and a half, this is something I consider as remotely stressful, yet, here we are).
