A friend did everything he was supposed to do as someone who tried to get out of jury duty: He had it moved to the Friday before a school vacation week and it happened to be the day before Valentine's Day.

He forgot to go.

What's next?

Just let them know. It's no a big deal. It's a bigger deal if you don't let them know and they find out.

I asked a friend who's a cop in town. He said the court will issue a bench warrant or something like that immediately on a no-show.

He also said their plate readers will flag anything, including a bench warrant for no-show for jury duty. If he drives his car in town, he will be pulled over within a few days if not weeks.

Call the jury clerk. There is a non-zero chance they were on the do not report list.

If that's not the case, they will likely reschedule another date. Make sure they go to that one.

Best if they call the day of or first thing next day.

I was selected for a jury on a murder case. It was an emotional experience. Your buddy should have called by now with a massive mea culpa.

I had to pay a fine of like $250 I think about 10 yrs ago when I missed mine. Then got called again next yr, so yeah...

I wanted to give you props for telling the story but I just couldn't give a thumbs up to -$250.

I really hope an "/s" was supposed to end your post.

No call the night before? In CT I got a phone call from the court telling to report or not
I haven't been to jury duty in a few years but I'm pretty sure they do this in Massachusetts also.

Being new to Fl, I didn't realize there were 2 locations for jury duty. I called to reschedule as I was traveling on the first date and got a new date. On that new date showed up in the location on my original form...they said you were supposed to be in location 2...which I really didn't know. Clerk said you are good...I marked you present but not needed.

That's the way to have jury duty.

As to the original question, just call. You think you/your friend are the first person to forget jury duty??
