The NCAA tournament is worth almost nothing in TV dollars without the 12-16 seeds there for upsets. If the football schools want to break away like that, they can kiss the tournament money goodbye.
Totally disagree. Seeing a #16 seed ECU beating #1 seed Duke would be the new opportunity for upsets that would excite fans.

If you go back in time, there was the NIT and the NCAA tournament and the NIT was the more prestigious tournament. Things changed and the NCAA tournament became the more prestigious tournament.

Things change over time and UConn’s leadership has never been good at being ahead of the curve. Does anyone really think UConn’s leadership has predicted what the future holds and made the right bet? History would say otherwise.

The only thing he's right about is streaming being the future. If UConn's break really was about them not being on cable TV anymore so 93 year old UConn women fans might not watch Geno and the girls, well then that was a pretty stupid reason.

Hopefully @whaler11 doesn’t read this

lol no kidding people stream.

you don’t seem to get that all streaming isn’t the same.

maybe epix should tell tv talent that they are the same as netflix.

The P5 conferences will never leave the NCAA. The P5 conferences don't trust each other let alone have common goals, it would be too expensive to create a nuetral entity to regulate and watch over everyone, they already have this in thr NCAA. I don't get how anyone ever took this suggestion seriously.

This will never happen

ECU would be in a conference if the P5 split away... and ECU is bad enough that it would be much more on the level of typical Cinderella. Plus, almost all teams would make the tournament in a hypothetical P-5 split and the first rounds would be 16 seed West Virginia vs Duke, much less cinderella driven.

There are many reasons why this won't happen, losing NCAA tournament money is just one of them.

I think everyone that during the selection show for the NCAA Tournament, CBS had a P6 and the Big East was in it. The AAC however was not.

I can not wait for Nov 2020 to have the proper conference logo back on the jerseys. The only sad part is we have to deal with one more season on the island of misfit toys and crappy safety schools.
But I expect going into 2020 we`ll be pretty good so it will be worth the wait and a very exciting season. I think we begin the turnaround in 2019.
