Any word of the Husky Run being renewed under Hurley? I wanna see if these famous Hurley workouts will improve the players times.

Phil Nolan was a joy to talk to on the stone wall in front of Gampel after the run a few years ago. Fuñ event.

I say he goes back to the OG and just has the team run up cemetery hill 5 or 10 times.

Here u go -time vs year:

'17 recap: walk-ons finished 1-2. Whaley 3rd followed by Ollie. Sid was last. 2010 most 'in-shape' team?

Ollie stopped that tradition
they did both the hills and the 5K (most hills were done before or after summer scrimmages as were Memorial Stadium steps) under KO
KO also had students and some of the girls team participated in his 5Ks
Overall I'm not sure what good the 5K ever proved but if it was for some team unity and campus participation it's OK

It isn't meant to be a measure of speed but endurance. And, yes, game endurance isn't exactly the same as 5k endurance but they are correlated. The team needs to take it seriously and do well. I hope Hurley keeps it. One of the keys of Calhoun's teams was their ability to have something left when the other team was spent. In Ollie's early years, that seemed to be continuing.

And while conditioning can be built during the season, early season performance will still be impacted by how in shape they are on day 1. For the next couple of years, this team will need every win they can get.
