It's not right that UConn bases its highest individual WBB award, the Husky of Honor, upon the often biased and politically correct decisions of corrupt organizations like the NCAA. It's like the tail (ass, really) telling the dog what to do. UConn does not need to wait for some arbitrary committee to tell us who can become a Husky of Honor just because, wow, they were selected as a first team "All-American" by some outsiders.
Especially when we know (as Doris Burke said last year) that no team is allowed to have more than two first-team AA's. Burke stated numerous times (and we UConn fans already knew) that Morgan Tuck was an absolute first-team All-American, but she did not receive the honor she deserved because three kids from the same team could not be named. So an arbitrary 'rule' kept a deserving Morgan Tuck off the first-team and thus off the Huskies of Honor wall. That's blatantly unfair and wrong.
UConn should put together a blue ribbon selection panel of its own, made up of people who are a knowledgeable and informed part of the UConn WCBB community, people like Rebecca Lobo, Meg Culmo, Kara Wolters, CD/Geno, the athletic director, to make that important determination of Husky of Honor.
Because whether Morgan makes first-team AA this year or not (and she likely won't), she is unquestionably deserving to be a Husky of Honor. Morgan Tuck should be included among the Huskies of Honor.
Defective indeed, RockyMTblue.
