Huskies in the Pros (Baseball)

I caught the tail end of Ed Coleman talking Mets with Joe and Evan this morning around 11. They were talking about Anthony Kay. Nice to hear him mentioned on WFAN. Sounds like the Mets have high hopes for him.

Here's one breakout prospect for every team

A little snippet on Anthony Kay as one of the 30 breakout prospects.

Mets: Anthony Kay, LHP (NYM No. 7)
It might not be long until Kay is pitching for the Mets after his recent promotion to Triple-A Buffalo. Few hurlers have been as successful this season as Kay, the Mets’ first-round pick in 2016. He received a bump up to the Minors’ highest level after a dominant showing with Double-A Binghamton, during which he ranked among the Eastern League leaders with a 1.49 ERA (second), 0.92 WHIP (fourth) and 70 strikeouts (fifth), all while limiting hitters to a paltry .165 clip over 12 starts.

This is funny. People who are writing for MLB.com about the minor leagues getting the Mets Triple A affiliate wrong. Kay was promoted to Syracuse, not Buffalo. Buffalo is currently a Toronto farm club.

With the Mets staff literally falling apart do we see Kay with the big club sooner rather than later?

A nice quick achievement for Willy Yahn. Another Husky getting to at least the Double A level. Players who get to that level seem to me are more than likely to be in the pro system for the long haul, even if they don't make it to the majors. I say this from the years I spent watching Double A ball in Norwich.

What’s Mason Feole doing this summer?
