Hurley will promote upcoming book with appearance on campus

To promote the book, UConn’s Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts is hosting “An Evening with Dan Hurley” on Oct 1 at 7 p.m.

Hurley will discuss the book and his life as he takes part in a Q&A session with ESPN’s Molly Qerim. Tickets for the event are $35 for students and $40 for the general public, and the price of admission includes a copy of the book.

I simply avoid Stephen A - same as Molly I guess now. I don't need vitriol or name dropping in my sports life.

Sorry people, but Hurley should be spending his time coaching the team, not charging students to hear him talk about his book that he hopes they and everyone else will buy.

I have no problem with Hurley riding the UConn wave to greater personal wealth. But ultimately, this job isn't about him.

Hurley has been the right person for this job without a doubt, and I hope he plans to stick around. But it's time to focus on the team.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. He is never at Werth 7pm or later anyways. Andrea should be more upset he's missing dinner than UConn fans.

And the basketball season (his job) is 52 weeks a year. The closer to the first game, the less any coach should be worried about feeding his ego and filling his bank account.

And why not just have a book signing event for those willing to buy the book for $30? Whoever told him it was a good idea to charge students another five dollars and the general public another $10 just to hear him speak and get his book - Well that person should be fired.

If he stays on campus after practice and has dinner and a beer at Ted's, should he be diagramming plays while he eats? What if he catches up with a friend and grabs some tea on campus at 6pm? Should the conversation be strictly basketball?

If you're okay with him being on campus doing normal human things, then you agree he doesn't need to be coaching for 24/7 on campus and can spare a few hours for an event. Of course, the event also builds excitement for UConn basketball, so you could argue it is still him doing his job,.

What? Doing a book signing is one thing. Charging students a premium to buy the book on campus is a bit much.

I hope nobody shows up. When they don't charge for a book signing outside of the cost for the book, I hope he fills the place up.

I actually agree, this just seems far too self promotional. The timing of it nearing the start of the season, the location and charging I'm not a fan of that. I sure as hell wasn't gonna buy his book.
