Man I love this. We've gotten so soft and precious in recent years. I love that Hurley calls it out. He's not backing off of anything and he's not apologizing for the way he is because there's nothing wrong with the way he is. People want what he has and with that will come people hanging on every little thing he does looking to take him down a peg. Fark em.

To take this a step further. College basketball and sports in general have become boring in recent years. Everyone is so guarded about showing off their personality and giving an opinion. No celebrating, no tussling, no controversy...no fun. Hurley is necessary, we need people like him and Barkley who speak their mind. The coaches used to be so much more interesting and so did the players.

Keep doing what you're doing coach.

Dunno, they had a pretty good relationship until recently from Goodman's mouth.
Does anyone in the media really have a bad relationship with Danny? I saw generic basketball pages say something but don’t recall any specific members saying they didn’t like it.

Hurley seems pretty beloved by the media.

There are those that have never met him and judge him like a fan would, I've heard at least one on a podcast (forget which one) who said as much.

Says the guy with the Ohio State hat. Should have asked him what he thought about Woody Hayes before he could give his opinion about Hurley. This is why I don’t do social media. My exposure is only what I see on this board. And even on this board we get people going after Hurley. Saying they (the refs) treat him no differently than they treated the Dook coach who I won’t even call by name.

At first with Maui my thing was the timing and it did cost us a game more than likely.

But at the end the day we hired Hurley and I was ecstatic, I knew he would be a perfect fit. I love him as our coach more every day. He owns what he does while not apologizing or only apologizing to those who deserve it (like the other coaches).

Now I want Hurley to do it more. When he went crazy about our good play did you see him go and grab Mahaney’s head and try to amp him up. A kid who by all expectations has come up short of where Hurley wanted him too, but you can see how much he cares about his players.

Makes no difference if we win it or not this year because, we are coming again so maybe get us this year because something amazing is going to come from this season. This is how dynasties are built.

Hurley is as honest as it gets and he isn't cheating. His players and ex players love him and so do the parents of those players. So how does tough coaching not work if he's won back to back championships? Hurley actually has toned it down, it's only when he does flip out it will be news.

Tough coaching works when you can adapt to the times, which Hurley has done.

Believe or not some are. I’ve seen randos on Twitter pearl clutching when Dan called the team soft a few games back. Society has become soft in general.

i love when people in the media act like anything in the court of public opinion has any permanence whatsoever. “That’s all gone now.” Oh spare me, if there’s any truth to that it’s because you and your ilk have decided saying such will get you more clicks. There is literally no difference between Dan Hurley today versus 10 months ago when it felt like he was generally beloved. Oh I know, his team isn’t as dominant and the bandwagon has shrunk. This will evaporate just like that. Don’t change Coach.

Jay Williams has no problem with Hurley and Seth Greenberg always the voice of reason, and Jay Bilas is so off base here.

Hurley, during the pre-season period was hopeful and oversold the team's depth, offensive efficiency, it's euro-centric data driven system as a trade off for a drop on on the defensive side of the ball. The idea of an effective offset was a fail, a miscalculation. This is essentially a new team that has to earn it on the court and has been exposed despite it's talent.

Defense has always been Hurley's calling card and a signature of his teams that includes toughness across the board. I'm surprised that some of the toughness and physicality has not really translated to this sophomore class. At some point you either have it or you don't and I don't think Hurley's recruiting focused as much on two way talent. Nowell is the best two way player that he's recruited currently on the team now, followed by Samson. For Hurley's teams, when all else fails, he could always fall back on defense to stay in these games and be competitive.

I think Hurley has learned his lesson. This team still has an opportunity to turn a corner. However, it's a team that is far from bullet proof. Go Huskies.

Jay Williams, Jersey native, and Seth Greenberg who has a personal relationship with Hurley.

Basically guys who are friends with Hurley so who are defending him. It’s clear he has a lot of friends in the media. I’m happy Jay and Rece talked about how competitiveness isn’t an excuse for bad behavior.

There are plenty of coaches who are competitive who don’t act and belittle people that way.

So call out every coach. Or else it seems it’s just agenda driven. Mr. Life Long. They did the same thing to Jim Calhoun in regards to his behavior with the media. I hope Hurley never changes.
