I think it’s safe to assume he’s missing at least a couple more games based on what coach said. He clearly doesn’t want to scare any NBA teams, but they’re just assuming the worst anyway.

It seems normal. They have been on the road. He was hurt Jan 5th, not the long ago. They probably just want to check on his progress. Normal recovery time for his injury is two to four weeks. If he can play versus St John's that's ahead of schedule.
