Hurley leaves Wagner for URI job...

Hmm ...

I guess he and Cooley can really battle it out now for state of RI supremecy!

If he does well at URI, it's a stepping stone to a coaching position at a top program.

i bet they beat prov next year with who ever is on there roster.

Well, in baseball terminology, going from Wagner's league to an A-10 team is like going from short season A leagues, to Double AA.
His next stop, if successful at URI, is the big leagues. Big East or ACC.

It's definitely a step up, both in financial terms and conference affiliation. I'm convinced that Hurley will win wherever he goes. The only downside for URI is there is no chance that he's going to be there for the long haul if he's successful. The second a big time job in the NJ/NY/Philly area opens up, he's gone.

But that's a win-win because if he's that sought after it means he's elevated URI and will leave them in good position to go forward.

Is his brother going with him? Haven't seen that anywhere

I haven't read anything about that, but maybe his brother will stay at Wagner and become the new head coach. It wouldn't be a bad move if he wants to start his own climb up the head-coaching ladder.

if he is sucessful at uri then he will goto bc in a couple years.

Why would he want to take a step down?
i would take 5 steps down if my paycheck trippled and i was given a shot with that paycheck at bringing something back from the dead with all the other pieces to it already being at the highest level just needing a coach....

I bet he does a great job at URI. It would nice to see them somewhat relevant again. The A-10 has some decent teams .We will get to see how decent when Temple starts BE play in 2014.

I'd bet that BC already has their eye on Tommy Amaker.

I heard K on Sirius last week talking about coaching against former assistants. He hates it and said he will never play games against them unless it's the NCAA Tournament. BC's free to hire whomever they want, but one would THINK they'd avoid pissing off a guy who never even wanted them in the ACC in the first place.

Ben Eaves played at URI. That automatically puts it on par with coaching at UNC

Given Coach K's comments, why would BC allow avoiding pissing coach k off to factor into their decision making? That being said, I don't think Amaker would even want the BC job unless he has a particular affinity for Boston.
