Up tempo offense wouldn't work as well in conference play anyways with less athletic differential and reduced ability to turn over better players..

To run an up-tempo offense you also have to be able to run half court efficiently. In fact, if you aren't efficient in the half court a wise team will force you to do that - and that's something most opponents can do, by not going hard on the offensive boards, and getting tight on your outlets.

He threatened to do this a while back if they couldn't stop turning it over playing fast. I hope it works, but they are still the same players.
That they are the same players is why they need to slow down on made baskets. They make too many mistakes and apparently do not have the skills to play fast, in the situation where the other team has the time to set up their defense.
