We all love Hurley. Happy to have him here. But...

His offense is just abysmal.

Slow pace, turnover prone bigs getting the ball on the perimeter, tons of deep 2s, what’s the goal?

Hurley needs to try something else out. We don’t pass well, we don’t shoot well, and our strength used to be the offensive glass, but now Whaley thinks he’s KAT instead of Capela.

The game was close, the program is trending well, but lets actually give some purpose to the offense, no?

Notice how Jay ran Gillespie to death, knowing we had no answer. Hurley could have done that with Sanogo which they had no answer.

Our passing is pretty bad. Even when we don't turn it over, we often make a less than ideal pass that breaks the flow and ruins offensive opportunities. Not sure how we fix that but it does seem like an issue.

I can't blame Hurley for this loss.

See my post about needing more high level playmakers.

Personally I thought the way bouk faded was eerily similar to the Marquette game. I could be wrong but I think he finished that game out, but was pretty much a non factor. Felt a lot like today.

Not sure that he’s 100% after that fall in the first half.

The offense needs a lot of work and it couldn't hurt to adjust, but I don't think anything was gonna work today. Nobody could hit a shot outside of Bouk for the first 10 minutes

Umm what? We’ve had an uptempo offensive at other points in the season (ie Providence last week).

Villanova is a T-10 team and the most dominant program of the past five years. We held them close for 35 minutes. This isn’t the end of the world, and we will learn from our mistakes. We’ll see them again in Manhattan and it will hopefully be a better game for us if Bouknight is 100%.

For now, let’s give Villanova some credit. They are an incredibly disciplined team and Jay Wright had a superior second half game plan. They are legit, and we are lucky to be renewing a rivalry with them again.

Share the ball! Hurley made no adjustment with Book! Double teamed, triple teamed ..Run the offense we ran last game and the game before. Move the dam ball! Get everyone involved ! Pathetic!

Holding Nova down and playing decent defense is a good accomplishment !

This game wasn't about the offense. Our guys got mentally outoughed, outexecuted, and outplayed by a very disciplined team.

Nobody played well outside of Bouk's first half. We had no adjustments made for Bouk in second half. Nobody hit any shots. Then Bouk went hero ball, and failed.

Hurley's gameplan for the game was horrible. Everyone knows what Gillespie's game and he just wore us out play after play. Then Jeremiah Robinson Earl got involved and did what he does.

Carlton should have played today. BAdams is terrible most games, but in second half I would have played him with only one purpose:Shut Gillespie down and pass the ball. That's it.

Hurley's offensive scheme puts a lot of pressure on ballhandler to create his own shot.
EXACTLY!!! The fact is we don’t have players outside of Bouk that’s gonna do that. That’s exactly why I don’t get why he doesn’t come up with some other stuff. You don’t have to be stuck in your ways so much. Find what your player can do better, and make adjustments.

Sanogo is pretty lethal 1 on 1, but Nova was smart to try and double him

It’s tough to accurately measure our offensive efficiency with Bouknight missing 8 games. I’d be more interested in seeing the stats for games he’s played in.

Why the hell are we taking the air out if the ball when our offensive scheme is lacking? We need to move...excercising our sets against good teams means a slow ugly loss.
Jackson is the only player in the team that doesn’t dribble the clock out every possession. Cole and Gaffney just let the defense settle then scramble when they have to. The coaches let them do it all year long though so it’s a mentality change that I wanna see

It wasn't our best showing. Nova is solid defensively. Very solid. They had everyone scouted and the personnel to stop us. They also had some match ups they were able to take advantage of.

They will be a tough team to beat, but hopefully we learned a few things. Come back stronger next time.

This team has no reliable scorer other than Bouk; it' Hurley's job
to devise plan to free him up when original plan stops working.
I agree that our big man should stay under basket and be a rim protector rather than chasing a 6 foot guard 25 feet from basket - just plain ineffective.
Come on Coach, get with it.

I hear you to a point but they weren’t that great today and we weren’t good either. More than winnable game and no one stepped up, no one.

I’m reminded of Coach John McKay’s famous quote:

Q: “What do you think of your offense’s execution Coach?”
A: “I’m all for it”

we simply need to be better on that end. Every time we’ve played the other teams game, we’ve lost (St Jon’s, Prov, Seton Hall, Nova). Note to DH: it ain’t working. So try something different. ANYTHING

I think that's an incorrect view of the gameplan, we started off the game with 2 bigs and were about to get run out of the gym before Hurley switched to Martin or Polley at the 4
