Flight from Houston this morning has a lot of Bama and NC State fans (expected as a southern hub). Just two of us wearing UConn gear
There’s a girl in Alabama gear on my flight, easily a 9.5/10 but she’s probably dating her brother so that stinks for me.
I agree with the rankings as well for fan bases. Interested to see how it is today when I get there. Was at the open practice yesterday. Would have to say Purdue is by a large amount the number 1 group here next was UConn
Didn't see very many Bama fans. Wasn't there for the NCST practice so don't know about their numbers.
Im in Scottsdale as well and not many UConn fans in this part of the city. This place so spread out people are staying quite a distance from venue. I imagine there will be enough of us to make some noise. The starving fan bases definitely have made the trip.Came in last night from JFK and had a good chunk of UCONN on my flight. Staying in Scottsdale and decent Purdue showing up this way
No pic??There’s a girl in Alabama gear on my flight, easily a 9.5/10 but she’s probably dating her brother so that stinks for me.
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t UConn see a similar bump in the mid 90s to 2004 with “bandwagon” national fans? I was too young to really remember it, but I do remember reading over the years that UConn basketball was basically the coolest brand in the sport.Big Ten schools are larger and generally have incredibly passionate fanbases. Add in that UConn fans had another team in the Final Four in a huge game elsewhere in the country and just probably paid a crapton last year, you can imagine they may not have as many.
But, again, I think people here tend to underestimate fanbases of schools like Purdue because we associate fanbases with winning. That's a very New England thing, I think (it's everywhere, but especially New England).
That said, if UConn wins this weekend, I think our fanbase takes another big step up as I suspect there will be a ton more national bandwagoners hopping aboard. Sort of like the Warriors, or like Duke in the late 80s-early 90s.
Is the Sheraton the UConn hotel though? Was at the Sheraton downtown bar last night to watch the women play and it was insane. Huge UConn contingent. U-C-O-N-N chants and everything. Lots of Purdue around town, followed by NC State. No Bama fans. The locals i have met all say they are rooting for UConn because they picked them in their pool. Then they say the Lady Huskies got a bad call last night.
The team hotel is the Kimpton Palomar, but the Sheraton is an official FF hotel due to its proximity to the fan experience stuff downtown. Is the Sheraton the UConn hotel though?
I'm a current UConn student and the plane tickets to Phoenix on such short notice are too much. Too bad the site is so far away and there aren't even any west coast teams in itIF?!? Good lord. You people are morons.

How much wiling to pay?My boy 1985 just drove in from San Diego via I 10 thru a snow storm. Huskies represent. He needs 1 ticket for tomorrow, lmk, ill pay
You expect me to drive to Phoenix? I don't know what college was like then but today's students driving 4, maybe 5 hours topsI drove to Key West for a weekend during college.

It's only a 38 hour drive, that's nothing. You expect me to drive to Phoenix? I don't know what college was like then but today's students driving 4, maybe 5 hours tops
Depending on what happens tonight I would consider the flight and staying Monday-Tuesday as it would be cheaperIt's only a 38 hour drive, that's nothing.
I'm thinking the same but it's probably not going to happen. Two years in a row that unforseen things have come up so I'm probably watching at my local hangout again, which is actually a lot of fun and has been good luck.Depending on what happens tonight I would consider the flight and staying Monday-Tuesday as it would be cheaper
They should movie the Final Four to the East Coast, where the teams participating are actually based. Then I could've made it. But of course it has to be in the farthest city possibleI'm thinking the same but it's probably not going to happen. We would have a bunch of if the dummies at the Giants/Jets built MetLife with a retractable roof. They should movie the Final Four to the East Coast, where the teams participating are actually based. Then I could've made it. But of course it has to be in the farthest city possible
Imagine: comments directed to caring fans seeking (and elsewhere gladly receiving) "the wisdom of crowds" and then getting ambushed by 'late-to-the-party' insults as a reward for their innocent lack of knowledge or experience from a stumblebum sourpuss who rails against sissies & hillbillies in the generally low-laying 41st-in-elevation state. All because he can't accept that we are enjoying these current days because they have been built in 'WE' fashion, not willed into existence by a controlling egomaniacal buffoon, who nonetheless vacilates between claiming credit for anything that shows positively and pre-emptively exonerating himself from any blame in case anything does not conform to his futile attempts to be "The Man," when he already knows, has proclaimed, and still denies that Taylor Swift is the man and he is her biotch.

In all candor I believe his demeaning responses, which are clearly the mark of a spineless internet bully, when coupled with my insolent responses may actually be helping the mojo. The evidence to date demonstrates clearly that at worst it is not hurting the mojo.Imagine: comments directed to caring fans seeking (and elsewhere gladly receiving) "the wisdom of crowds" and then getting ambushed by 'late-to-the-party' insults as a reward for their innocent lack of knowledge or experience from a stumblebum sourpuss who rails against sissies & hillbillies in the generally low-laying 41st-in-elevation state. Simultaneously clueless, as great & powerful as that man behind the curtain to whom no one must pay attention, and maybe (just maybe) stumbling into a self-deprecating self-owning troll that nets him HIS 6th National Champion. And you dare to disrepsect him?
