Yes, this is a UCF site but they do a fair job of trying to connect fabricated dots...

How the Disney/Fox Deal Might Help UCF Get into the Big 12 | Black and Gold Banneret

Here is the Cliff Notes from D1.Ticker:

>Ok, the title of this article ("How the Disney/Fox Deal Might Help UCF Get into the Big 12") may be a bit farfetched (or is it?), but check out the chart just a bit down the read with a really clean look at media deals for all Big 12 members. To summarize the real aim of the piece: 1) ESPN buys out the Longhorn Network; 2) ESPN "convinces" the Big 12 to add UCF, USF, Memphis & Cincinnati, connects the quartet to four Fox RSNs; 3) Pool rights, leverage RSNs & a rebranded LHN to the Big 12 Network. "As for when this might all go down, we just have no idea. It depends on how quickly ESPN can convince Texas and the Big 12 to start the process."<<

And as usual, ESPN would screw us again...Bill Rasmussen (who started it as a UConn/Whalers network) must be rolling over in his grave.

Well it’s completely made up and has a 0.0% chance of happening so don’t get too upset :)

9 of the 10 teams in the Big 12 will end up in the other 4 Power conferences. Iowa St goes to the MWC.

I think it is possible for them. They have a large media market, their athletics are improving, and academics don't matter! Weather is great. Great place to visit for a visiting team's followers. Perfect candidates for the Big 12!

No other league is taking Baylor or Texas Tech if they have any choice.

I'm not sure anyone is going to be jumping out their seats to take K St or W Virginia either.

K state comes with KU.

If the B12 crumbles and teams are looking for a lifeline from the Big4, KU is not in a position to demand who else gets rescued.

Texas - yes. Oklahoma - probably. But not Kansas.

If KU went to the B1G, then no.

Agreed. And Iowa State is more appealing than people think. AAU. Good attendance. Decent programs in both major sports.

If there is shuffling, the most likely outcome is that the AAC's best join the least of the Big XII in the Big XII. Kind of like what happened to the Big East when we added Louisville and Cinci as fillers.

Yeah, all the people who think the Iowa St has the 11th-best prospects in the league are wrong. They are 10th best.

What is particularly interesting is that no one in Ames seems to realize this.

I think they'd be ahead of K-State, Baylor, TCU and TT.
UT, OU, KU, OSU are the top four. WVU and ISU next.

I didn't realize you were from Ames.

Their recruiting territory is the Upper Midwest.
Their TV market is Des Moines.
They are 8th at best.

TCU is located in the Dallas market, and has access to TX recruiting.
Tex Tech has a small probability that UT might bring them along.

Ok, maybe ISU gets it over Baylor. But it's close, because, again, you've got 4-star recruits sitting on the roadside in TX.

You think a P5 conference really wants a directional school after losing their entire coaching staff?

So we'll be in a league with Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa State, WVU and KState. Sign me up!

This came close to happening when TX, OU and others nearly joined the PAC-12

It's more about public perception. Kansas football, TCU, K State, T Tech, have little in the way of sizzle. Iowa St just doesn't sound sexy. But what if Chip Kelly took the Iowa St job, and Urban Meyer went to K State. Suddenly, they seem a lot prettier and a conference might be more interested on looks alone.

And if Nick Saban took the UConn job, the Huskies would be in better shape.

Now can we get back to reality?

???

Who is going to take TCU, Baylor, Kansas St., and West Virginia?

Even Texas Tech and Oklahoma St. are iffy.
