I was thinking about it - I'm probably about a 4 or 5 on the nerves scale - less confident than I was 2 years ago vs. L'ville or last year vs. ND.

You should always be a little nervous before a national championship. Any of the Final Four could beat us on any given day (although I like our chances in a 7 game series.) ND is a good team and Muffet is a good coach. She understands what we do and how we do it.

Plus if we had to lose, I sure wouldn't want it to be ND.

In summation, we're doomed.

I'm more nervous than last year because Steph was such a rock and because we have the Jinx factor going this year with everyone picking UConn and it being Geno 10 time maybe and because I have so few opportunities these days to really revel in STRESS!

PS. Not to mention the whole 3peat thing (better sneakers this time Nike, and please may you have occasion to whip them out on Nat'l TV Doris) and global warming, Iran and ....

What makes me nervous is not that UCONN might lose, but that IF they lose, it will be to ND.
I don't ever want to lose to ND again.

If it was any other team than ND I would be as cool as a cucumber. But I'm pretty jumpy right now. I can barely sit still at my desk. I need to pace..because that's what I do during the games I watch...pace.

I don't know who the first was but I was the second to vote "1-2". We won by 18 on their court earlier this year. They add Turner we add Stewie and Mo who had awful games in the first encounter (combined 3 for 20 in fgs and the team had 24 turnovers). Think about that. Stewie goes 3 of 12 and Mo goes 0 of 8 with 5 turnovers, a team total of 24 turnovers and we still win by 18 on their floor !
ND without Anchonwa last year is about the same as ND this year with Turner. She will be great but she's not there yet. She missed the rim from 5 feet against USCe. Freshman nerves. Loyd hasn't been as productive as she was earlier in the season and it's a major concern on the ND forums. I don't see how ND will score more than 70 pts and I don't see how they keep us from scoring 80+ pts.

The first game was a breakout by Morgan, who is now playing as well as anyone in the country; but Moriah and Breanna were off...both are now Peaking as All-Americans. Our freshmen, Kia and Gabby both have a year of D1 ball under their belts and both have survived a year of UCONN practices. Kaleena is the hot warm center that only history's best shooter can provide...Muffet will have to dedicate a player to her...as always.

The pluses for ND are that Reimer has found her footing and is giving them a good midrange scoring option. I expect Jewell to recover from her shooting accuracy problems, and will be very interested to see how Turner does against Morgan, Kiah and Breanna...my guess is her shooting percentage will suffer the most.

I'm looking forward to a really entertaining game...

,I'm pretty scurred. ND is good and did well to make the championship game. At this point, the Irish are 0-3 in their past three NC games. Is their luck due to change? Meanwhile, UConn is 9-0; why is that? Is there some magic spell that can't be broken? Is there a culture of preparing for and winning games like these that only Geno can foster? Will Jewel be fired up for not winning all these NPOY awards? Will Breanna continue her trend of stepping up in the brightest moments. How representative was the game last December, when UConn beat ND handily in South Bend? Lots of questions.

I do know we have the best player in the land, the best PG, the best distance shooter, an ace defender off the bench, and a basketball-savvy powerhouse who didn't get first-team AA recognition but arguably should have. That's a formidable quintet, and as much as I love Kia, we may need Kiah in her stead to help on Turner and Reimer.

Unless the game is decided by foul calls, I think UConn has this, but it's going to be a battle. No Quaalude for me, but I will probably need an Ativan.

This sounds right to me. ND will have difficulty reaching 70 and will have more difficulty keeping UConn under 80. NC #10 only a few hours away.

I"m a 1-2, but not because of any "got it in the bag" feeling. Part of it is knowing that I cannot affect the outcome at all, I can only enjoy watching it play out.

But, part of it is - it's just how I operate - whether as a fan, as a coach, or during big "life events", I do best if I get a little excited, but not too excited. I'm comfortable being the "calmly confident" figure when all around me are bouncing off the walls or going batship. I focus best when not too excited, when I can absorb some of the excess energy distracting the folks around me.

Guys, what is the natter with you? ND as a team is not as good as last year and some of you are nervous!!!
Let's hope no body gets hurt. Stewie and Tuck will have a field day because of the mix match, our post players will tear them apart. Our quick switch on defense will shut down their guards and their mid jumpers, and if they can get by our guards then the best swatter Stoke will be waiting for them.

By half time ND will in be in awe and didn't know what has just hit them. ;)

I'm going the in the 3 - 4 category.

This is ND, a well coached team with talent. This a ND that does not like us. However, they do not have the fire power of UCONN. They play good defense but they can't stop everybody.

If Stewie, Morgan and KML do their thing, with MoJeff directing traffic, ND loses.

Oh BTW, what do you think how ND feel going against us? Knowing they lost the last 3 NC games and the last 3 games against Uconn??? And have to face the best player in the country Stewie, the best shooter in the land KML, and the best PG in the nation??? Not to mention the best defender in the paint Kiah Stoke!!!!

Good night ND............!

The line between hubris and confidence can be very thin. I was in the hubris zone last November against Stanford and we know how that turned out. HOWEVER, now after a a full 36 games of domination against all takers, we are primed to win this NC in a similar fashion as the last two years; 20 - 30 point margin of victory 80 - 58. Justifiable Confidence. Go Huskies!

Sort of reading between the lines of everything I've read, it kind of seems Notre Dame isn't that confident they can beat UConn. So I think they know, we know, everybody knows UConn is the better team. But, I"m still nervous as heck.

I'm a 5. The only time I was ever in the 1-2 range when watching my team play for a title is when the Sox played the Rockies.

I'm in the 3-4 category. Since Stewie became Stewie in the 2013 semifinals ND can't beat us. Other than November's Stanford game Uconn has had only double digit victories since March 2013. Of the over 1800 leading D1 players Moriah and KML are second and third in effective shooting percentage at about 68%. Finally, we score about 1.2 points/ possession allowing around .7 points/possession. No other team is remotely close. Given all that I like our chances. But I'm still nervous.

the nd team that was so competitive had skylar, Kayla & Natalie. I think we'll be okay.
