How many UConn athletes reported with Covid?

MLB reported that 1.2% of their players reported with the virus. The basketball team and football team are back. Did any test positive for the virus? Is this a problem? Is it not a problem? Will there be a break down by team? They have been back for a week.

According to the New Haven Register the protacol for ahtletes iis as follows, All student-athletes must test negative for COVID-19 and enter into a modified quarantine within small groups before they are cleared to begin workouts. Once they test negative, student-athletes are required to pass a physical exam conducted by UConn team physicians and athletic trainers before they are cleared to begin training.

>>As of now, nine of the team’s 13 players are on campus preparing for the season, Hurley said, though not specifying which players are so far absent. Each of the nine was tested for COVID-19 upon arrival, the coach said.

“They were all tested initially and all came back negative,” Hurley said.

The Huskies were initially allowed to work out only in groups of two but some restrictions have recently been lifted. “There are groups of four now in the weight room and groups of four on the court,” Hurley said. “They’re not integrated together. They’re on opposite sides of the facility.”

The UConn players will be allowed coach-supervised activities beginning on July 20.<<
