when UCONN and ND were tied at 8-8 after the first two media breaks ever thought UCONN would score 83 points in the game? Be honest.

That means we burned ND for the last 3/4 of the game at a rate that would have brought us close to 100 point performance if extended to a whole game. WOW!

I was surprisingly confident. As I said in the game predictions thread, "I believe everyone will be amazed at the blowout that is about to occur." My reason for feeling that way was primarily UConn's depth, Shea's comment about the team's anger after the last loss, the second coming of the freshmen, and the confidence that Geno would come through with a great game plan.

Even with all the early see-sawing of the lead, I never thought ND would gain any traction. With only two viable bench players, it was just a matter of time. Thanks to great foul shooting, ND made it somewhat respectable, but every Husky gave the nation a great view of trade mark UConn basketball.

Before the game, I thought Uconn 70-58. At the 4 minute mark, I WAS thinking that it was a rehash of the Stanford Championship game. I would have been happy with the same result. But an 18 point win? Never thought it would happen!

Watching the replay. At 6:30, we had 16. At 4 minutes we had 23. At 3:20 we had 25 and trailed by 1. We scored 58 from that point forward.

Yea both teams seemed to be stuck on 8 and then 18 for quite awhile. Pretty ugly at the beginning.

Well, Ice, here's my level of expertise on display: From the arena, tied forever at 8, I texted my cousin in CT to say I thought the final score would be something like 42-40, either way!

I thought it was going to be another game like the UConn vs Stanford championship game that did not "showcase" women's basketball.

Early on I was thinking the same thing

I think we all did at that point.

If not for 21 turnovers the score could have been a lot higher.

And the fact that ND was 11-11 for free throws in first half and UC wsa 0-0. Imagine if those FT weren't there?

I bet you didn't think that at 8-8 at the second media break.

A great prediction, however.

It's no coincidence that so many sports terms come from military expressions. Two armies from classical times are pushing against each other spear to spear and shield to shield with a slog of stalemate in the works, then suddenly a crack in one side's confidence grows into a chasm as some war leader catches a missile, and the shoulders slump and the the rout is on. Louisville was still under 40 with 11 minutes to go in their game before the Cards gained traction and upped the pace to finish at 64.
