Prior to 2011 my preliminary research shows 1994 #3 North Carolina vs.#4 Louisiana Tech (w/assistant coach Kim Mulkey!)
Other than 2011 and 1994 a #1 seeded team has reached the final.
As we continue to talk about the "depth" of the talent in the women's game and better coaches being hired across the spectrum, that theory is really put into use by seeing seeds other than #1 or #2 making it to the FINAL FOUR.
Not surprising is Mulkey who has 3 other title games and 1 other Final Four on her resume, Lisa Bluder has led Iowa back to prominance from the C Vivian Stinger days of the 1990's. Kenny Brooks also made his first appearance in a Final Four.
