How important is Morgan Tuck?

If Morgan wants to leave, good for her. If Morgan wants to stay, good for her. It's up to Morgan. Natalie Butler, Katie Lou Samuelson, Gabby Williams, Kia Nurse, Crystal Dangerfield, Napheesa Collier, De' Janae Boykin, Molly Bent, Kyla Irwin, Saniya Chong and Courtney Ekmark. They'll have to do.

With that line up I like our chances!

If it were me, I'd get the master's (full disclosure I like Tuck and what she brings to the table and want her stay forever!). Hopefully in something relevant. Basketball is always going to have a limit in the number of years you can play. Having that extra education will pay dividends for many years beyond one's playing days.
I agree with you on the staying. Alas, I can't think of a way to get our advice to her.

I also like her. Not much not to like.

Read much ?

“At this point, I’m planning on staying no matter what happens,” she toldSNY.com's Carl Adamec. “In my fifth year I can get a Masters Degree and getting another degree can’t hurt you ever. I’d rather get it right after undergraduate instead of going back to school later to get it. I don’t think anything that happens next year will sway me either way because I’m bonded to the program and I love being here.”

And Jewell Loyd was planning to come back to Notre Dame, until she wasn't.

One has nothing to do with the other. I would like to read the quotes that supports your "She's gone. Wants to graduate with her friends". Do you have any ?

My point is: quotes at this point mean nothing. She can say whatever she wants now and do something completely different later.

Analyzing it rationally, she has more to gain and less to lose by leaving than she does by staying.

In favor of staying is, basically, the opportunity to get a Master's degree, maybe a chance at another championship or some individual honors. In the grand scheme of things, for a prospective professional athlete, those aren't very compelling.

Against staying is the fact that her peers will have left and she may want to begin her pro career while she's still healthy (which she may not be able to take for granted forever).

We'll see. I'd be ecstatic if she comes back, but I don't expect her to.

I think rvwsleep wants proof that she's leaving. That's just as silly as asking for proof that she's staying. Only Morgan really knows. And she might not even know just yet. All we as fans can do is try to piece together sound bites that are delivered via various media sources, and even then it's just speculation.

DaddyChoc is correct. HoopsFan21, you thought wrong. I'm not looking for proof of her leaving (though that would be interesting). I'm looking for facts to base an opinion on.
Tenspro2002 made a definitive statement "She's gone. Wants to graduate with her friends..."
I would like to know if this was pulled out of thin air or if it was based on something that Tuck actually said.
Since Tenspro later responded with "quotes at this point mean nothing" I'll assume it was the former.

Over the past year plus. If you get Connecticut news stations, they often get interviews that don't get picked up anywhere else. I've heard her say that she would prefer to graduate with her class. That was at least a year ago though. She also said at the beginning of this year that she's considering it which surprised me because at the end of last season she was all about the "free school," so I thought it was all but a done deal that she would be back. Guess not. Based on her comments over the past 18 months, it's a coin flip at this point, and she has probably not made up her mind one way or the other. If she gets that extra year of Geno's tutelage, she will be a machine by the time she goes pro. Hopefully she values the development she's receiving from the top notch coaching staff at UConn + a master's degree more than the $40k they get paid as a pro rookie.

When she goes overseas she'll get more than the $40k.

If it were me, I would go pro. I am assuming this is her life-long dream. If it were mine and I had ticking time-bomb knee - my life-long dream would prevail. I can always work on masters during summers and other times. Though for just watching her- love her game - hope she stays.

links please, this guy/gal is providing FACTs and you're trying to "contradict" with nothing but mumble jumble
Morgan has statements about staying several times. You can google them yourself.

We never could have done it without her.

What da heck are you talking about? Ice go back into hibernation, follow the thread and not just me

Singular quote as far as Know.

"I was pretty surprised about Jewell," Tuck said. "It's not common. A lot of people have opinions about it, but she made the best decision for her. I'm happy for her.

"Right now, I'm planning on staying my fifth year and getting my master's degree. I'm not in a rush to get out. I like it here. A master's can only help me. It's free school. Why not use it? My goal coming in was four national championships. A chance to get five? It would be unbelievable."

According to many of our fellow BY'rs it doesn't matter if she leaves or stays. She's too slow to match up vs teams like De Paul and N Dames small ball team.
And maybe they are right, she only had 21 pts? 8 assists? 8 rebounds? And she did miss some foul shots. And she shows very few leadership qualities. And she panics with the ball in her hands. Even as a freshman playing a lot of minutes and very hurt in tough NCAA Tmt games, she was always a negative on the floor.
It's amazing we've had the success we've had with her. One of the only games we lost in 3 yr's she didn't start. That was a freak coincidence. Some people kill me!

So are you basically saying Morgan is undefeated as a UCONN starter?
Can someone please verify this, I just don't want to take your word for it.

Doris also said on the broadcast that Geno had talked to Morgan and had basically said that while she would certainly be welcome if she chose to return next year, he thought it might make more sense from the standpoint of her own best interest to move on. I think that is essentially the same advice that he gave to Shea before the 2000-01 season. Shea decided to return, with results that were not good for her future in professional basketball.

If Geno and Morgan have talked about this, I wonder if Shea and Morgan have also talked. If they have, I wonder what Shea's advice would have been.

he should be quoting the poster who isn't providing facts/link... or saying "yeah DC you're right" like the other poster did

dang... Doris Burke was annoying in the 1st half (just watching the game) but I guess "others" will enjoy that she's not kissing UConn tush
