With their three first round picks they picked Jeremy Lamb, Royce White, and Terrence Jones. Not only that, but they're also pursuing Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik in free agency. I think this team can be very good this year, and possibly be a contender in the west in a few more years.

I don't know if I could disagree more. The Rockets seem to going towards full on tank mode, or Morey is just clueless.

I think they may be the worst team in the league. The Knicks are matching on Lin. The Rockets will soon wish the Bulls matched on Asik. They are losing Dragic, Camby, Lowry and Courtney Lee and are looking to move Scola and Martin.

Other than Lamb, I don't think there is a single player on the team who isn't a power forward in his 1st two years in the League.

you must be getting coke for very low prices. They traded their starting PG away(Lowry) , didn't re-sign their backup/starter quality PG(Dragic), traded and will not be resiging their two centers(Dalembert & Camby), Lin's offer will be matched and they'll likely sign Asik because the Bulls know that that offer is too much for a C with terrible hands who can't score or shoot free throws(he is a good defender and rebounder however). They won't be a playoff team and they are light years away from being a contender. It seems that Morey has realized that it's time to tank, something he should've done years ago once Yao went down, not contintue to be average because he got gassed off them going 7 games with the Lakers with a team made up of mostly average to above average players and thought he could win that way.

Just to name a few teams in the West, I don't think the Lakers, Thunder, Spurs, Clippers, or Grizzlies are too worried about most of the names that you just listed. So yeah, if you want to take the most optimistic viewpoint imaginable - in a few years I suppose the Rockets might be around the 6th best team in the West, give or take. And that's the best case scenario.

You summed it up perfectly.

This roster is an absolute mess. Unless they can trade some of these 2012 picks for some veteran players they will be AWFUL next year and for a while. I, like a lot of others, think their draft this year was awful given their roster. Royce, Jones, Morris, Patterson, Parson, Buddinger and Scola? That is the nucleolus of your team and that's 7 players who all play SF of PF. If they had went Marshall, Zeller and Lamb I would have felt a little more confident in the direction they are going.

I liked their draft but other than that I have no clue what they are doing, they are going to be bad. Also can someone please tell me what the Dallas Maveicks have been doing since they won the title? I feel badly for Dirk, he deserves much better.

The other players under contract are Jon Brockman who is a PF in his third year or 4th year, John Leuer who is a 2nd year PF and then a Euro rookie PF. Quite silly.

They cleared a ton of cap space and planned on making runs on Howard and Williams. Clearly, that didn't work out well and they should have kept Chandler, Barea, etc. but on the bright side they haven't gotten anxious and made any horrendous signings.

Houston isn't going to be any good this year. They made a play for Dwight Howard and when that didn't work they blew things up, which is exactly what they should have done. There is no middle in the NBA so if you aren't contending then you should suck so that you can have a chance to land the superstar to build around.

Last year was a perfect example of what happens to a team that is in the middle of the pack. I think into about the last week and a half of the season they were sitting at 5th in the West. They then went on to lose 6 or 7 in a row and found themselves out of the playoffs and at the bottom of the lottery. It just isn't possible to build a team that way so tanking a season or two is the way to go in my opinion.

He drafted best available. Since the team is going nowhere this year, I'd rather have as many good young players as possible and see just how good they are.

I think Morey was a little foolish in swinging for the fences but he didn't give up anything of value (Lowry's OK but nothing special) and while the Asik deal isn't great, the Rockets can afford to overpay for talent in the short term if they want to.

You need a star to be a good team in this league and he has not been able to land one. As stated earlier, the middle is nowhere in the NBA. Either get the player or tank and hope to get lucky with the lottery. They currently have no untradable players, and that is not a bad place for a team in this league to be in.

I liked their draft, even though they have a plethora of power forwards. They then proceeded to trade or look to trade their best players. Why get rid of Lowry? Why Dragic, Camby, and Lee? If they kept these pieces and Scola, and got rid of some of their 30 other power forwards, they may have had potential moving forward. I like McHale, I think the Houston Rockets don't, they want to make him miserable.

I love Dirk. I don't feel as badly since he won a ring, though you are right, he does deserve better.

Good points. Still, I liked what they had as far as being a solid playoff team going forward before they broke that team up. If this is their strategy, their front office better learn how to evaluate lottery talent, and keep them fingers crossed next May, watching the ping pong balls.

Camby making a return to the Knicks. Like Ray Ray, he can still make a significant impact on a good team. He will make an awesome backup to Chandler. There were talks of Camby joining the Heat. I thought that Ray Allen and Marcus Camby on the same team would have been interesting.

Tyson has a true center now and can play a little more aggressively which is great. He can also protect the rim and Camby can stick Bosh when he decides to roam. Miami loves bringing bigs out of the paint, this should help us.
