I like Curtis Mayfield. Isaac Hayes Shaft album has lots of great instrumentals on it, especially Cafe Regio. This is another nice jazz selection from Isaac hayes.

Take an old classic tune, add five superb young musicians, and

WOW!

Not many people associate Amy Winehouse with jazz, but, she was very heavily influenced by performers like Dinah Washington and Ella Fitzgerald. She was borderline worshipful of Washington, and, Tony Bennett, too.

Her first album, "Frank," is heavily infused with jazz, but it was her second album, the more R&B and pop based "Back in Black" that turned her into a superstar. Fame and drugs pretty much did her in at that point.

My favorite Amy Winehouse song is "Love is a Losing Game." It was part of the second album, but it's pure jazzy goodness.

Legendary

It was a total honor to see Dave Brubeck play at the Palace Theatre in Stamford back in 2010. 89 years old and the music sounded as good as back in the 50s. That laid-back style ages well.

The new Knower album has some tasty tracks.

This one is my favorite. The piano solo broke my mind the first few times I've heard it.

Traditional old-school jazz, ragtime thru the swing era... That's where I live.

This is Tuba Skinny, a group of youngish (but veteran) jazzers who started playing in the streets of New Orleans around 2009. Their immense and widespread popularity (as trad bands go, anyway) is largely due to the many hundreds of YouTube uploads of the band. They have now played in all kinds of festivals, clubs, etc. all over the world.

But when they are home, they still play on the streets.

Tuba Skinny is my 2nd-favorite, here's the less-famous one that's my first choice:

One of the greatest melodies I've ever heard.
The chord changes are next level to these ears!

Been listening to these young ladies for about a week now.
The sax players front the group, but that rhythm section is killin' it!!

Great spacey jazz from Zephyr out of Boulder, Colorado, circa early 70's:

Not sure what I'd post as a video tribute, but RIP David Sanborne
