Went back and watched Hoop Dreams for the first time in about 15 years. It holds up pretty well over time and gives a lot of insight into why kids make the decisions they do. Especially recommend it for all those who complain about the fickle nature of recruited high school basketball players and the thin line between success and failure.

Really sad watching that film in recent years knowing Curtis Gates and Arthur Agee's dad were both murdered.

Thanks for posting that it was real well done documentary as it showed how with all the outside forces that basketball hoop dreams can fade really fast.

I wonder if the coach at St. Joseph's had really give Arthur a chance if he would have made it to the NBA. You are so quick to be dismissed by the coaches. It seem he had more of the passion than Gates to play ball for sure.
