My best guess is Indiana buys us out or gets pushed back a few years. This also only gives us 5 home games for 2026, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the Temple game become a home game for us, and then we go play them on the road in 2027 (we already have 7 home games that year so it could make sense to drop them from home slate)Uh oh, is Indiana buying out?
Totally agree about balancing schedules. I looked at the schedules again, both ODU and UNC could be options to swap destinations in 2026-2027, in addition to Temple. It’ll all sort itself out eventuallyThis makes a ton of sense, if we are trying to balance our schedule. 2026 looks pretty brutal with Indiana there. With Miami of Ohio it’s much more realistic. We do need to flip flop a road game into a home. Old Dominion has 7 home games I think in 26 so they might be another option to switch. We start the year with 4 straight home games in 2027, and 7 total so that might make a ton of sense too. Then we have 3 at home, go to ODU ODU here in 2026 then there in 2027. Of course that would put us on the road for 4 straight. I’m going to guess the schedules for both years get rejiggered a bit before the first game.
Classic American university campusCan’t wait to catch UConn in Oxford. The campus is beautiful but in the middle of no where.
Unclear, but the UConn FBSchedules.com site includes the likable Miami away game and no IU in 2026, and the 2030 home game with Miami.Uh oh, is Indiana buying out?
I keep hearing good things. I do the local the broomball league so a quarter of our people are Miami U folksMy two schools. Can’t wait to catch UConn in Oxford. The campus is beautiful but in the middle of no where. Daughter going to Miami Univ next year!
Agree on a beautiful, rural setting with the stadium actually on campus. They used a consistent approach to building style and materials, unlike the sprinkling of different architecture. Not sure if it is still true but an odd law had the drinking age at 21, but parents could buy drinks for their kids if they were together and the kid was 18. Bars advertised it back in day.My knee, unfortunately wouldn’t let me partake in broom ball but my wife, and her friends were really into it.
When you think of a collegiate setting Oxford Ohio, just knocked it out the park. Especially after living through the garbage bag veneer of our LIBRARY in Storrs in the 90 when I went there.
UConn has come a long way since then.
Also, Miami home of the most fortune 500 CEOs in the country. I always thought this was a perfect match for an independent schedule like UConn has. We should destroy them in football.
This is terrible. The schedule was perfect in 2026 before this announcement. This makes a ton of sense, if we are trying to balance our schedule. 2026 looks pretty brutal with Indiana there. From the information the we currently have, that may be an accurate statement. This is . The schedule was perfect in 2026 before this announcement.
The 26 schedule is good. 4 P4 games. 2 home 2 away. A couple of regional rivals in UMass and Temple and a couple of very good G5 opponents. We go 8-4 against that schedule we will have earned it.This is . The schedule was perfect in 2026 before this announcement.
I would have said that if you didn't. "Future results may differ markedly from past results."With regard to destroying them, I think we have to remember they have been better than us for a long time. We would kill to be 41-27 over the last 5 like them, and last year we had essentially the same record with Miami having a better SOS (although neither was great).
It is a better schedule. You play 3-4 P4 schools because UConn is not in a decent G5 conference where you could play 1 or 2 Top 25 teams. Cinci, BYU UCF Houston were all G5 teams, Thay all had a level of success in the best G5 conference and were competitive while losing and also beat the Px teams on their schedule. The 26 schedule is good. 4 P4 games. 2 home 2 away. A couple of regional rivals in UMass and Temple and a couple of very good G5 opponents. We go 8-4 against that schedule we will have earned it.
To be clear, UConn is a G5 program. It is probably the only G5 that plays 1/3 of its games against P4 opponents and likely the only one that plays multiple P4 games at home. Given our record vs P4 opponents this is a very good and pretty well balanced schedule. Since Mora has been here we have played 13 P4 teams. We went 1-3, 0-4, 1-4. Total 2-11. The idea that we should load up our schedule with P4 teams when we have G5 players because of some inane idea that to be the best you need to beat the best is just wrong. In sports, especially in football, size, Speed strength and all those in combination matter and in most cases beat not having those things.
