Why would anyone transfer? Misery loves company and there is more than enough pouting going on in Tennessee.

Maybe because of our animus toward UTenn, we're underestimating this situation. The team played much better the last 1/3 of the season. Okay, no one is coming in for next year, but there's plenty coming back, to build on. Maybe not a final four team, but a competitive team. Once they prove to themselves that they can win again, they'll attract attention.

Exactly. The Lady Vols played well towards the end of the season. They were one game away from the Final Four for crying out loud! But a chance to develop their chemistry, figure out their offensive system, and get tougher and stay healthy, the Lady Vols are going to be a force.

I disagree. They beat a 2 seed in ASU that was tailor made for them. Do you think they would have made it out of the 2nd round if their 2 seed had been Maryland or Baylor? then they beat an under manned OSU team. But on paper, you are correct - they beat a 2 and a 3 seed. Then got hammered by a Syracuse team that could have easily lost by 40+ to UCONN.

IMHO the best thing they could do is hire a former UCONN player as an assistant. Crockett, Raymond, Thomas, Valley - are there any other former UCONN players who are or recently were asst coaches? Tenn plays decent defense. Their offense is atrocious. It will take years to change that, but they have to start somewhere and a former LVol, or asst from some other program that has no clue about defense is not the way they should go.

Fortunately I think it's highly unlikely they would ever look to a former UCONN player so it's safe to say their offense won't be improving any time soon!

One of the names that has popped up on VolNation is Jasmine Lister. She has the southern connection (Vanderbilt) and the Uconn experience over the last two years, and a real interest in coaching at some point after she has exhausted her professional playing options.
(I mentioned the fan interest in her re the vacant assistant's position at the Monday event and she was genuinely surprised and a little disbelieving.)

I disagree. They played a couple of good games and then reverted to their true selves. Had the seeding/bracket been different they may not have gotten past the 2nd round.

Wow. Can you imagine the UTenn fan reaction if Warlick were to hire an ex UConn staffer from VANDY! :( There would be much gnashing of tooth (can a solitary molar be gnashed?) and mullet rending in Knutsville.

Great question and I don't know, but I can honestly say I don't know how I would feel if they hired Wilnett, Tamika, Morgan, Mel, or some other former UCONN player. Every fiber in my body hates everything about the LVols. I'm hopeful we will never see that day (that a former UCONN player coaches there) because I wouldn't ever want to root for them... I think my head would literally explode...

We will never know, of course, but it could well be that the departee had some ideas on offense that Holly could not swallow; 'course there is the whole zero recruits thing until the 28 blocks in a game 3 star showed up. They were paying Elzy pretty huge money and if Warlick can pay that again who knows who will bite, but it is hardly an easy sell without the cure of throwing money at it.

The fan base is getting pretty desperate and a number of them have said anyone with a Uconn connection would be an improvement - discussion of Shea as a HC is not being shouted down and Jasmine as an assistant has gotten some serious run - and no one has even mentioned the Vandy connection - they are just thinking she has learned about offense for two years from Geno so it has to be an improvement!:)
