"After a late-November appearance in Fulton County Magistrate Court, Holdsclaw's attorney said he talked with Lacy and they were tying "to resolve the case in the best way possible"".

Does the victim in a felony case have any say in the resolution? Chamique is charged with aggravated assault, criminal damage and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. Doesn't a felony charge take the victims wishes out of play?

How much jail time does she face if convicted? Or will she get off with probation because she is a sports star, or fallen sports star as the case may be?

Good questions, but (not a legal expert) hard to make a case if the victim doesn't want to assist...

Plaxico Burress shot himself accidently and got 2 years I believe. He hurt only himself however he endangered the public by discharging hos pistol in a public place. Holdsclaw's attorney will attempt to paint this as a domestic incident. In many of this type of case the spousal victim declines to press charges or testify and the prosecutor never indicts. The difference here is that Holdsclaw took the gun out in public and shot the weapon where an innocent could have been killed. In doing so she endangered the entire community. Despite this, I would not be surprised to see her serve no jail time and after a period of "treatment" having her record expunged. Celebrity, in most cases, results in a different sort of justice than the rest of us receive. I am reminded of a quote from Eldridge Cleaver in his autobiography that I think that went something like this: " I know why the statue of justice is shown blindfolded; it's because the b*t*h has dollar signs for eyeballs" JMO of course.

So sad. Holdsclaw was one of the all-time college greats, and no matter what team she played for in college, it's a sad commentary on how mental illness can really ruin your life if gone untreated. Not to mention her poor girlfriend, who almost got shot.

One can only hope she can pull her life together with the proper professional support. It is a tragedy for all involved.

Yes there have been numerous employment issues with her throughout her basketball career. It seems with her history of mental health problems it was bad judgement for her to obtain a firearm. Very sad story indeed.

This deeply saddens me. She is one of my all time favorites. I have two autographed photos: Holdsclaw and Navratilova.
